The lousiest segment in the current job saga has come to an end.
This is the first day of unemployment, and I couldn't be happier. I mean no offense to the unemployed. I chose to quit my job before I had another because -- well, in short, it sucked on so many Suckage levels that I won't even try to describe them to you. Unless you're curious; then I spill!

I am so happy to be posting from my laptop this Monday morning, instead of from a cramped, poorly-lit, freezing and black workstation. (That's right; the desktop and surrounding cube-top ledge and drawers and file cabinets are black.)

I'm free! Mrs. V. is so good to me. She knows, as I do, that I'll have a new job before the end of the month, but that doesn't matter. She knew how much it sucked.

I'm free!

1. Nothing feels quite as good as quitting a job you hate.
I'm sure you'll find something better before long; in the meantime relax and enjoy not being THERE.

2. Very glad for you, BK
The descriptive snippets you posted were pretty bleak.

I hurted for you when you spoke of your cravings at that job and their display of sugary treats. That's an abusive work-environment and a business-plan failure. Trying to gorge people at work with that kind of snack-diet is not only cruel, it's counter-productive: give me a twinkie and expect me to crash on my desk.

I'm sure something better will appear eventually.

3. "counter-productive: give me a twinkie and expect me to crash on my desk" --
I hate clichés, but have to use one here:

THANK you!

Jeez, no-brainers do not occur to those people.

(I will lose weight this week. I never could resist the temptation fully.)

6. thanks!
Right now I would be keying time and hoping not to see the boss. Maybe going for my second cup of lousy coffee.

Instead I am in my chair, with good coffee at hand. About ten minutes ago I saw a doe and her fawn in my backyard. :wow:

I like not being at work. It won't be for long, I'm confident, but I'm gonna enjoy it while it lasts.

9. I'm looking forward to quitting my current job...
...but I'm going to do my level best to have another one lined up before I walk out. There are only two things I like about my current job...1) I work with some very nice people, and 2) I can take a smoke break whenever I damn well please.

Aside from that, it's a nightmare, and I can't wait to get away from it. Congrats to you, katzenengel, for removing yourself from a bad situation :)
