5. Our rum and vodka kick ass.
Tito's Vodka is the best you'll ever taste http://www.titos-vodka.com/
Treaty Oak Rum http://www.treatyoakrum.com/

And we have good beers. But not Lone Star. I've never met a Texan who drinks Lone Star. Shiner's good, but I can see some northwest grunger not liking it. :P

11. I do, too. But only when it is ice-cold.
Once it warms up, it skunkifies quickly.

When I was in college, Lone Star was 75 cents a bottle and everything else was 99 cents. I was no math major, but I can get drunker, cheaper on Lone Star. I drink it out to this day.

Well how do you think they manage to have bubbles in their beer? :P

If you think that's disgusting then that's nothing:Up here in

Socialist Canuckistan they pay peoples to drink beer imported from Texas and

belch in flat hops juice. But at least it's tasty and you get drunk fast.:)

12. You know why?
Edited on Tue Sep-16-08 05:47 PM by GOPisEvil
It's because you like ales. Texas beers tend to be German-style lagers due to the large amount of German immigrants that settled in Texas.

Edit - didja have the gelato?

13. Sorry, GOPisEvil, ole buddy; I gotta disagree with you on this one.
Not on the lager part; you're right there. I'm just disagreeing with the notion that anyone hailing from Germany has anything to do with the current state of Texas-brewed pisswater.

I've had genuine German lagers, and they are sublime. The Lone Star State's mass-market brews? Not so much. Texas beer sucks. But in a win for the "In Texas, everything is big" crowd, at least there's plenty of it. :P

Keep in mind, born and raised in San Antonio here...

14. Well Budweiser is a German-style lager as well.
That's not to state they are any good, but as for me, I like lagers, and I don't like ale. Therefore, I'm predisposed to dislike any ale. Taverner is the reverse, since all I ever see him drink are ales. I figure he may be predisposed to dislike lagers. It's an assumption, I grant.

I miss the Celis Brewery that used to be in Austin. The old guy running it retired, and his kids didn't want to keep it running, so they sold it to Stroh's, I think. :(

That said, when served in bottles kept on ice, Lone Star is pretty good. Not gourmet, but I can drink it.

15. To be perfectly fair, Washington-brewed mass market beer wasn't much better.
When I moved up here in 1979, Washington had two major breweries, Rainier and Olympia. Rainier wasn't much to shout about, and Oly wasn't much better. And now they're both gone. The old Rainier brewery now roasts Tully's Coffee. Up here, micro-brews rule. Current fave: Mudshark Porter! :9
