I think I'm getting dumber just by living where I live.
The comment sections on the website of my local paper are filled with the rantings and ravings of the right-wing nutjobs. Observe:

The original LTTE:

"Sarah Palin has certainly energized the Republican Party, and she can give a good speech. However, I think the more Americans get to know her, the more her extreme record will repel the average American. Consider:

1. She called the Iraq war "God's task."

2. She had nice things to say about a fringe political party in Alaska that advocates secession from the USA.

3. She wants to teach creationism in public schools.

4. She doesn't think humans contribute to global warming.

5. She has close ties to big oil, with her inauguration sponsored by BP. The first, second and third choice for her solution to the energy crisis is to drill, drill, drill.

6. On consistency of position, she supported the so-called Bridge to Nowhere, received the money from Washington for it through efforts of lobbyists, then decided to use the money for other projects.

I think these points need to be fleshed out by the press, and certainly in the debates. The more people know about Sarah Palin, the more extreme and out of touch with mainstream Americans she will appear, despite her good looks and sharp tongue."

A response from one of the Kool-Aid enthusiasts:

"Tom Buglio has bought into every unfounded lie that the liberal media and liberal blogs have put out there, about Sarah Palin. "Fleshed out by the press"????? Go and check these "facts" out at the unbiased websites, snopes/urban legends, or factcheck.com, and then write in to the paper. Don't believe everything you hear on MSNBC, the official news station of Barack Obama.

Then ask yourself about the suspicious associations of the man you would have king. If you were remotely honest, you'd follow up on him and the stories about him, as fervently as you do the opposition."

Too bad for Trish that everything in the original letter has been proven to be true.
