LOL. Text from my son.
Mom! Mom! The Republicans are coming. I'm so excited. Can't wait to lay into them!!!!

As a junior in AP History, he was to attend a forum of invited guests today at school; both Republicans and Democrats. There was also going to be a Q & A.

BoyMidlo can hold his own pretty well. Should be relatively interesting.

1. Well, well..
and you thought your school was run by a bunch of tight asses? We got a directive from the superintendent's desk that informed US that we were FORBIDDEN to allow ANY candidates into our middle school, to ANY class, under ANY circumstance. What a NICE way for my son to learn civics in 8th grade this year, huh? :wtf:

Keep us posted. My son will be jealous he didn't get the same opportunity! I can't wait to hear how your son's "show" goes!

4. I had a class in HS where literally every day up to election day we had a guest speaker...
It was our responsibility to contact and book the speakers and we would have a Q and A session every day with them. We had everyone up from school board and town council members up to governor candidates and Congressmen. Now *that* was a government experience we never forgot...and you had to know your stuff because it was more fun to see grown elected officials squirm at questions asked by 17 and 18 year olds. On the rare days we didn't have a speaker in we would just flip through that day's NYT and discuss the news.

I learned so much about American government that year and we didn't even use a text book, except for about 6 weeks when we were preparing for a constitutional debate contest.

Kids need hands on learning when it comes to civics, it makes it so much more interesting

3. One more thing
My son would have had his phone confiscated and I would have had to retrieve it from the dean myself if he had been texting during school hours.

But you can bring Taco Bell OR Pizza Hut here any day of the week... LMAO!
