It's 20 years later. I'm still resentful.

It's 20 years later. I'm still resentful.
A friend of mine mentioned that he was helping a little boy go to Disneyland, and it all came crashing back.

......

Being taken to Florida at age 8. I got to see Cape Canaveral, and I was so happy. And I knew that Walt Disney World would be next on the list. My mom took me. And she had a friend with her.

And they REFUSED to let me ride a single ride!

They said "Let's look at all of the stuff first." So I had my picture taken with all of the characters. I had my picture taken in front of the little tiny houses. They took pictures of everything.

And as the sun got higher and higher in the sky, and then lower and lower.... "Can I ride any of the rides now?" "But there's still more to see!"

We only got one day there.

By the time it was dark, they said we had to go home.

......

Not. One. Damn. Ride.

I think I'm going to cry....

2. Not that I'm aware of....
... as far as I know, the park admission ticket is unlimited rides, not quite like the State Fair. At least, that's what the web says now. It might have been different 20 years ago.

But I will say this -- I would have rather just gone to the beach and swam if I wasn't going to get to ride a single ride.

It was the most boring day of the entire vacation. I do have to say I absolutely loved Cape Canaveral, and if your kid has a science bent, it's a great stop.

Just don't take pictures of the film they show -- it doesn't work. (My grandmother kept putting the pictures of the blank screen back in the album, after I kept taking them out and throwing them away. 20 pictures of a blank screen is just a waste of album space.)

3. Oh my god.
That's the saddest story I ever heard! (Not really...but still.)

4. Good God. I usually advise people to "pull up their socks and get on with it," but THAT is
something I feel you have the right to resent, even 20 years on.

They turned a day that was supposed to be for YOU into a day for THEM. And that's just wrong.

5. I was being somewhat dverdramatic in the post....
... but I do still resent it.

Again, though, Cape Canaveral was AWESOME. If you have kids who are science geeks like I was, it really was awesome. And was relatively cheap!
