2. How does N.C. always seem to go republican?
You'd think that Asheville, Chapel Hill, Raleigh and Charlotte would be enough to offset the rural red vote. :(

7. It's home and I love it.
I tried to leave once. Spent a year in DC. The mountains called me back.

9. Lelapin was born in Spartanburg SC
My ex was a musician and played with the symphony there so we spent a lot of time in the mountains.

Valle Cruces, Mast Farm Inn, the Biltmore. I love all of it.

8. Wish I could afford to live closer to Asheville.

The place is absolutely rich with culture and activity and such a laid back attitude toward life. I think I'd love it there. For now, though, I'm over in Rockingham. At least I'm in the same state though. Thanks for the pictures. I love them. :hi:

12. My favorite pastime
is to walk downtown and see what is to be seen. There is always something.

Yesterday, I saw a man walking a horse down the city sidewalk. The horse has saddlebags, he had a pack on, and a leather cowboy hat. I have no idea where he came from or how he got there. It was surreal. I didn't have my camera at the time, though.x(

13. The sousaphone is such an interesting instrument.
It looks like it ought to be unbearably cheesy. But it has a very clean sound, not all oom-pah like a tuba, actually it can end up sounding very much like a string bass.

14. That street band was great.
They were playing old time, "let me be your salty dawg..." rags. you're right, it did sound smoother, like a string bass.

25. your pictures are fantastic!
All the ones you have been posting have been wonderful. I am in love with your new camera. Is it easy to use? Maybe I can convince my husband that the camera would be a good Christmas present for us. We take so many pictures of our boys, but have a crappy little camera.

26. It is very easy to use.
It took me about two weeks to learn all the bells and whistles. But, you can set it on full automatic and it will do everything for you.

You could take good family snapshots the day you get the camera. Working on lighting, effects, and some of the more artistic options took a little learning, but once I learned where the options were, it was just a matter of practice.

I recommend it! Thanks for the compliments!
