Jeebus! Reading GD is scaring me half to death!
Total economic collapse?

The worst depression, (or recession), in the history of the country?

Troops being diverted to the US for upcoming riots and civil unrest?

Martial Law?

The 2008 election being canceled?

Somebody, hold me. :scared:

4. People have a natural tendency to expect the worst.
It is easy when the newspapers are so full of doom and gloom. And it gets amplified when we hang out in a place where everybody thinks the same - the groupthink is actually very strong here.

Just remember: the worst very rarely actually happens. I'm not saying it won't be bad; it already is, but the world isn't going to end.

how so many people scoff at the Rapture, and then scream, tear their hair out, and gnash their teeth over insanely unlikely doomsday scenarios

not to say those can't happen, but c'mon

14. Oh, I know nothing about this "Rapture", other than it seems to be some kind of Armageddon.
I'm fine. And was just blowing off some steam.

12. Just think of how we're paying for all those rich people's mistakes
and you'll feel pissed off instead of scared.

13. I was ALREADY pissed off at paying for rich people getting richer off my back.
I truly do not have a problem with the rich getting rich. But it does not escape me that corporate welfare and subsidies cost MANY times over the cost of social welfare programs for the poor and disabled.

And, excuse me, but we cannot afford national health care, for the poor, disabled, underemployed, and otherwise uninsured, because .... ??? But yet, that would cost a hell of a lot less than the corporate welfare we "suddenly" have the means to pay for now?

Sorry, but I am just sick, and sicker, and plain more fucking sick as time goes on.

I saw a great post in GD last night, asking about what you would do if someone, without a gun, came and robbed you of everything you had. I understood the analogy. Many others didn't.

Oh well....

I went over there earlier. I left with the same sort of feeling. It was a mixture of depression and :scared: I'm glad I left that area and came back here, to be honest.

21. Cats and dogs? In the same house? Blasphemy!
I fear the end coming.

My "special needs" snarly butt cat has already tried to kill me again tonight. I can't go ANYWHERE without him being constantly underfoot, trying to trip me.

And then he greets and snuggles me afterwords, pretending to be adorable. :eyes:

He is curled up with the dog now, and I am certain they are plotting the means of my death.

Armageddon has begun!

So, if you don't hear from me again, you know why.

19. Sometimes it seems like we have our own....
Sometimes it seems like we have our own squad of secularized Rapture Ready posters who fantasize about a dystopian, post-apocalyptic world, and brag about "survival readiness".

It amuses me. Don;t let it get you down-- the sun will rise tomorrow, elections will be held, and (hold your breath 'cause this one's the best!) we'll soon be saying "President Obama". :)
