What should I make for supper?
I had a shitty day - I had to go in to work and take care of some rather unpleasant business, and it took a great deal longer than I anticipated - I can't justify ordering pizza or takeout, and I'd really just rather pour a nice glass of wine and sit here nibbling on cheese. However, I do have to feed my family. I just don't have any culinary inspiration at the moment.

Seriously.

This is a photo I took the last time I made it, about a month ago:

3. How come you can't justify pizza or takeout?
You had a long, tough day and deserve to be able to have your wine and nibble cheese.

7. We've reworked our budget and really cut quite a bit of the fat from it -
I don't want to get in the habit of saying, "Well, in THIS non-emergency or THAT non-emergency situation, it's okay to blow past the budget" because it's all those little justifications that add up to hundreds of dollars a month. We have some discretionary money set aside for the weekend, and I'd rather use it at the weekend than tonight.

10. Spaghetti
Always, ALWAYS, have some good bottled sauce - I like Barilla - on hand. Heat it up, cook the macaroni, toss it together, if you've got some meat, throw it in, maybe whip up a salad, if you've got the fixings, and flop.

That was always my "I'm wiped out" dinner.

Also, keep some French or Italian bread in the freezer, and make some fast garlic bread.

12. When I have to feed my kids and dont' feel like it...
I make quesadillas. Pretty simple!

Or else hard-boiled eggs and crackers.

Or pasta, like I did tonight. I drank wine and ate a frozen Amy's burrito.
