Heck -- we'd have to go shopping anyway (I don't have sea salt), so we could go find a good butcher, and he could give me pointers on buying all kinds of yummy stuff.

Yeah, I'd have to live on salads for two weeks afterward, but I just love her, especially her sense of humor. I'd gladly eat a dish with a pound of buttah in it, just to spend some time with her.

23. Paula had Michelle Obama on Paula's Party the other day
From the way Paula talked, she wants Obama to be President. That is enough for me to want to meet her - and she is a blast to watch, too.

27. I heard about that, but I missed it, dammit...
But I've seen the Jimmy Carter episode twice, so I'm hoping that they repeat this one... :-)

And I have no doubt that she's an Obama supporter. She's also one of my favorites because I love her recipes, butter and all...:D

52. It think it was a new episode and Food Network did NOT include Michelle in the description
Title was "Grease Is the Word Party" and the description reads: "Maury Povich and Connie Chung join Paula for frying fun with Connie's Mother's Fried Dumpling recipe and Fried Apple Pies. Paula and hers sons Bobby and Jamie make Fried Pork Chops and Sausage Potato Salad. Plus, Katie Lee Joel shares Fried Biscuit Sandwiches."

Not one word about Michelle Obama. They made fried shrimp (which must have been good since Michelle kept scarfing them down) and home fries with extra spicy seasoning and a mustard dipping sauce. I only caught part of the Michelle segment since I wasn't that interested in seeing a bunch of fried food I can't have. It was at the very end of the show.

59. Well, that was really stupid of them if that was the description that they gave.
Michelle Obama is a definite ratings draw while even the most serious Paula Deen fan would be likely to change the channel rather than be subjected to "Maury Povich and Connie Chung join Paula for frying fun..." :eyes:

But thanks for the info. I'll have to look for that episode, but I'll tune in really, really late...:hi:

62. Yeah, it was really stupid - I had seen an ad for Michelle being on one of Paula's shows
Checked the listings and did not find it. I only happened to turn over in the middle of the segment.

I think Paula is Democratic but the Food Network execs must be Republicans.

66. You've got to be right, since having Michelle Obama on The Food Network must be quite a coup...
So you'd think that they'd want to publicize it.

However, it depends where you saw the description. The TV listings that are in the newspapers and weekly TV mags are done by someone else. I know because that used to be my job, LOL.:D

I was never responsible for The Food Network, did the commercial networks, CBS and FOX, sometimes NBC, but they're all written in the same place, my home town. The channel will send a schedule, or somebody has to call them, but it's the person who edits The Food Network that writes the descriptions. Maybe Michelle Obama's appearance was a last minute thing and she didn't make any but the daily listings. I used to have the same problem with Letterman. Anyway, it's one explanation... :hi:

19. Rachael Ray lives near me here in NY. I haven't met her, but two friends of mine have...
One friend went to one of her cooking classes, ages ago, and was invited on stage to help cook...:-)

And my other good friend ran into her last year, when her family took her out to lunch for her birthday. She said that Rachael ordered chicken breasts for her dog and had John take them out to her pup in the car... :D

I like her "30 Minute Meals" recipes. What's your interest?

29. Depends on who you ask if she's a celebrity......
To anyone who has been invited over to dinner at our house, my wife is a celebrity chef,
and an expert low-cal, low-fat chef to boot. I have serious cholesterol problems, so this
is vital to keeping me alive.

Over the weekend, we had.........

Ocean perch, first lightly coated with a thin layer of olive oil, then baked (poached?)
in a mixture of vegetable broth and white wine, enhanced with lightly broiled garlic
cloves and diced fresh ginger. Accompanied by scalloped potatoes, also lightly coated
with a thin layer of olive oil, mixed with finely chopped onions, then put under a broiler
until lightly brown, then sprinkled with a light layer of cajun spice, and continued broiled until
brown around the edges.

Salad of field greens and freshly halved cherry tomatoes in a simple mixture of olive oil and
balsamico.

Sunday, diced chicken in a sauce of olive oil, vegetable broth, mustard, herbs and local mushrooms
over brown rice.

You get the idea? I don't need a celebrity--I already have the best there is.
