In life. If you believe in god it's balance. If you don't believe in god, it's balance. People like me who are spiritual, but not sure why, have no balance. The belief, one way or another, keeps you on an even keel. It helps set a course.
I bet the only people I know who are forever unsure of their belief and still manage to live happy lives are city planners or hold other high level government jobs. Cause who gives a shit if god exists or not when you're getting a month of Vacation a year?

not to be rude, but there is no fucked up like believing in god fucked up, your average fundy is NOT a happy person -- they are sure as shit not "balanced" unless by "balanced" you mean balanced on the cliff of insanity

come live in the southern usa awhile and you will lose your illusions, hell, date or live w. a few "buh-lievers" and then you will realize the sanity and calm of being able to disbelieve -- the true believer is dangerous precisely because they must maintain a high level of hysteria to keep brainwashing themselves to "believe" the obvious crap about some guy who died, rotted in the ground for 3 days, yet was raised from the dead in less than 48 hours, but somehow it's 3 days you see, because in the bible they think if you die on 3 PM friday afternoon and are already alive again at dawn sunday morning it's 3 days... and that's just the beginning

nothing makes a person more miserable to himself or others than a belief in jay-zus

have you ever met anyone who was happier because they were stupid and incapable of using basic logic? HONESTLY were they happier when you got to know them or were they only "happier" when you were content to accept their fixed smile as a true face of happiness?

religious hysterics are miserable people, that's WHY they are religious hysterics, happy people don't involve themselves in such nonsense

2. They live in total fear of the outside world, and feed on self righteousness.

3. These nuts down here in the south are fucking bonkers.
The people who go around talking about "Jaysus" down here in the south are fucking bonkers most of the time. I'm not even sure I'd call half of them Christians. They are more like control freaks or gangs. They certainly have a gang-like mentality. They are horrid, wretched people.

But...
there are some people who are Christians, but not zealots, who are happy and actually pretty fun to be around.

7. There are a lot of believers out there...
...who have never thrown their beliefs in your face or otherwise angered you. A lot of them are better people than you or I. Believers in astrology or the Chicago Cubs can also be good neighbors.

Let's ease up on the broad brush, please. Plenty of believers of all kinds will be voting along with us next month, proving that they've got some sense and empathy.

4. There are two kinds of people in this world
there are those who wake up in the morning and say, "Good morning, Lord,"

And there are those who wake up in the morning and say, "Good Lord, it's morning."
