So, splain me the difference between the White Sox and Cubs...
Who is more likely to be fans of which? And how is it that if you're not from Chicago, it seems like the cubs are the only team there?

1. North side = Cubs. South side = Sox.
Simple.

2. From what I understand you can't be fans of both
I know a die hard Cubs fan who is rooting for the White Sox to lose....
A city with two professional sports franchises in the same sport thats so strange to me....

You must pledge allegiance to one or the other to get a Driver's License in IL.

12. Looks like most big Brazilian cities with soccer teams.
Except Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo, in which there's a choice of four big-league teams each. It's part of the individual identity. One is not "a Botafogo fan" or "a Vasco fan." One "is Botafogo." One "is Vasco."

4. I know lots of midwesterners who love the Cubs and despise the White Sox.
I'm sure a lot of it has to do with when they (White Sox) fixed the 1917 world series too.

10. The White Sox
supposedly threw the 1919 world series against I forget who. I think they played best 7 out of 9 games back then. All I know is from seeing "Eight Men Out."
The woman I bought a Tampa condo from back in the 90's had a bedroom devoted to the Cubs.
Posters, newspaper clippings, etc. Like some kind of shrine. Must have originally been from Chicago.
Plus she had a wall-mounted rack with shirts and stuff. Boy, did we use the spackle to repair the holes left after she took that down! And the room was painted pink - is that a Cubs color???

Dad was a Brooklyn Dodgers fan. He's dead. When someone asks when he died, I say the day the Dodgers left Brooklyn, although he actually died in 1963.

14. The Cubbies are for kiddies and pukes, the White Sox are for adults and Dems
Cub fans come for the party with their lattes to see and be seen, Sox fans come to watch baseball...

Lifelong Sox fan here, I don't really hate the Cubs or wish them ill but I have to be prepared to reply sharply to my many Bub fan friends.

20. To be a Cubs Fan
To be a Cubs Fan, you must understand that suffering is the one true path to enlightenment. You must be a dreamer. You must be the sort of person who, when knocked down, rises quickly, and believes in their heart that some day, there will come a time when they will never fall again.

I don't know what it takes to be a White Sox fan. Fuck 'em.
