Wondered if anyone actually missed New York's "shocking and awesome" (in a

good way) and beloved twins as in the Twin Towers, that terrorists tried to bomb the first time around 11 years ago today but failed in that first attempt.

The towers stood but six people died.

That seems like an inconsiderable number now. Still. Six gone from their families, friends, lives.

COMPLETELY, not like what happened on a CERTAIN SEPTEMBER DAY, nearly 2 and 1/2 years ago.

I miss 'em - I lost my office because of the bombing, One person I knew died, one person from my company (that I didn't know) died, and I lived in fear and terror for days afterward scrambling to help my company find and refurbish temoporary offices and smelling that awful, sickening smell of the burning pile.

Yeah, I miss 'em. Every time I look down 6th Avenue, every time I look over from the Promenade, every time I see NYC from outside the city, and those towers aren't there any more.

Damn right I miss 'em.

and 1 time resident of my hometown of Calgary (or that guy who saved the 6 Americans back in 1980 or thereabouts) as a survivor of the terrorist incidents in more than one way (or that he now lives in New York and possibly Manhattan) since considering the interests and background that led him to join the Foreign Service, he could have had an office there.


I bet there were quite a lot of us who aren't even in New York who missed them too, since we may never have the chance to see them now,except in pictures, should we ever have the opportunity to visit New York. I bet we all may be constantly reminded of how things were way better when Bill Clinton was in charge and the Twin Towers were still proudly standing in New York.

What I also meant on edit was didn't everyone at times wish that a certain "terrorist emergency" didn't happen in New York.

you keep saying "missed". Are you asking about people who maybe never had the chance to see them?

And yes, I hope we don't forget what things were like under Clinton. Or, actually, I wouldn't mind that we forget, if it's because we have another dem in the white house, and things are even BETTER and America is peaceful, the world is peaceful, and everything turns out okay. :-)

I bet she would have had Shrubby give new meaning to the term "running :scared:," but a person could dream, couldn't they???????????????????????


Maybe this did kind of relate to non New Yorkers, but don't mind me for I am kind of tired tonight.

On edit what I was sort of trying to say was maybe the US and the world would have been better off without the "Dingbat In Chief" in the White House.

I worked near the seaport and I would stroll over to the WTC for lunch or to sit and read a book. It was a very peaceful place, and the 70s utopian architecture made for a beautiful plaza. It all gleamed in the sun, and you could look up at the largest objects in the world and see them shimmer against the sky.

The memorial for the six dead was a beautiful thing in and of itself. It was a granite circle with flowers and water, with the names of the dead, including the "unborn son" of the pregnant dead woman. The memorial was exactly over the spot in the parking garage where the explosion went off.

I miss all of that, all the time. I love my city.

who no doubt miss giving "something special" to any first time air traveler of any age, by letting them go up and check out the flight deck of the airliner. Unfortunately thanks to what happened in September '01, that probably no longer can be done.


On edit I actually got to have that experience on a plane trip in 1984, though it wasn't actually my first flight.
