i'm about ready to break into the unit downstairs
the battery on the smoke detector downstairs is low and it's been beeping at very regular intervals all day. the unit is vacant and we have no access to it. i called the property management company two hours ago and haven't heard back from them.

it's driving me nuts x(

4. Oh that is so funny.
Sometimes our little bird will chatter away and I swear I think him muttering, F you, in his cage. I'll say...What did you just say! And he'll say..Good bird Tippy. Yeah, right bird!

6. Not so funny when I'm bird/slash dog sitting..
While the bird does his chirp, tweet, BEEP, chirp routine her yappy sheltie goes ARF! ARF! ARF!--and the bird gets louder to provoke the dog and the dog gets crazier..

14. I had to
return 2 birds to the bird store about 8 years ago... They never shut the fuck up. Never. The threw their poop and feathers and screamed non stop. I was a slave to their cage cleaning ritual and I went insane... They imitated the garbage disposal and the doorbell. Ding-dong! Me... trot to the door... Ding-dong! then the GRRRRRR sound of the garbage disposal.
Since I didn't want to stomp on they wittle heads I put them in the car and drove them back to Birdland (yes... Birdland) where the owners smiled knowingly as they took them back... that was about a $500 lesson in how much I never want to own a bird again.

did break into the place next door while empty. It wasn't difficult, the back door was unlocked, but oh so satisfying to get some sleep!

5. Been there
Last apartment I had was on the first floor, right above the one basement unit. In said basement unit lived an old woman and her two grandkids, as well as a huge dog.

The floors turned out to be very thin, and the old woman tended to yell at the kids and the dog for reasons i never knew. The dog would run around barking it's head off, the kids would run around, and all three of them had the tendency to stand outside of my apartment and yell at each other for upwards of half an hour straight... many times I was ready to yell at them to shut the hell up. Other times I was considering breaking in when they were gone and soundproofing the place...

The day they moved out, I threw a party.

10. About a month before they moved out
I started responding to every noise with one of my own. Every thump was responded with a stomp, every yell was replied to with a... well, another stomp. I stomped a lot. :P

11. some people just have no sense
while i was in college i lived in an apartment in a three-unit building. we were upstairs and the garages ran under our place. the kids next door had a pool table in their garage and would have parties, which included several games of pool, a couple of times a week that ran into the wee hours. i can't tell you how many times i called the cops on them, although i always went over first and gave them the option of shutting up.
