So I Went On Date Last Night, And I Think I Figured Something Out
That being, I am not attracted to thin, or fit, women.

This woman I went out with was 5-4, 120 lbs, with wild red hair. She's into politics and social causes and you'd think it would be a perfect match, right?

Nope.

I wasn't in the least bit attracted to her, and for the life of me I can't understand what men see in these rail-thin women?

Plus she kept talking about how much she works out and how she frets whenever she gainst two pounds.

Oy vey.

What's wrong with a woman who's got a belly and love handles?

I don't understand what men consider the standard of beauty. If my friends had been there they would have considered her the hottest girl I've ever gone out with.

But I wasn't feeling it. And it wasn't her personality. She was very smart and very nice and we had great conversations.

But that body...ugh.

Am I weird?

1. we women have been brainwashed
ala diamonds, must be thin, must.....
while i do semi obsess about my arms(arms?), i have accepted that my germanic genes will leave me doomed to less than trim thighs. cottage cheese is my fate, but just so long as i keep it curvy, but a little less than rubenesque, i will be happy.

2. yes
skinny or fat, any woman can be beautiful if given the chance to be free of our preconceptions of what is acceptable.

3. I'd say you are normal
My husband told me that he likes his women soft and cuddly, and has never cared for the skinny as a rail type. He says that most fellows he knows agree with him on this point.

4. Hey, to bad I'm married
I love rats!

But seriously, it is a problem. Women who spend their lives obsessing about their weight miss out on a lot of other things they could be doing instead. Thinness and obsession is encouraged by our corporation driven society because they make a load of money off it.

What I really hate is when women of normal weight think they are "fat" or men talk about them like they are obese.

I live in the So Cal Desert now, but my hubby is probably getting a job in LA (where I grew up). It is a very looks oriented city. Reading the LA Weekly (alternative paper) I am astounded by the number of ads for liposuction and all types of plastic surgery, botox, acid peels, etc. I really think about if this is the type of place I want to live.

I think people can be attracted to a wide range of body sizes and shapes. I personally like men who are a little heavier than average. I think our obsession with skinnyness is really creepy!

7. I'll take her!
I've had my fill of women who describe themselves as "A few pounds overweight" who look like they've never missed a meal in their entire life when we meet.

8. What's wrong with being an ecto?
as in ectomorph ie. naturally skinny

I do not believe some of the stuff I see posted on here. Basically raw, open-wound hatred of ectomorphs. Up until I was pushing 40 I was 6 foot tall and 137 lbs. People would rush up to me on the street and demand that I put on weight. One doctor suggested I try and gain 100 pounds.

Now that I'm "mature" I'm up to 159 pounds and I miss being able to run up stairs three at a time and walk on thin ice and ride a bicycle like a madman.

I was on an anti-depressant that caused me to gain weight. It caused the seratonin level in my stomach to be unbalanced so I always felt hungry even when I wasn't and I balooned up to 183 pounds. As soon as I went off the meds, I went right back down to a reasonable weight without too much effort other than a few hours a week in the gym.

Earlier in the month, I decided to go on a bit of a regime to see if I could get below 150. I rode my bicycle to work, lived on raw vegetables and spent waaaay to much time in the gym. I lost one pound.

Now you have to remember that for someone weighing near the double digits, a two pound increase is a much larger percentage weight gain than someone in the 180 lb range so there is valid reason to fret.
