My "house elves" taped me to a chair.

Some of my friends are here helping me again today. They're helping me with laundry, unpacking boxes, and moving furniture.

They keep telling me to sit down and stop working. Silly me, I want to do some of the work in my own home. :P I am not comfortable doing nothing while people do work for me. The last time I started unpacking a box they grabbed a roll of surgical tape and taped me to this chair.

They have pictures. As soon as they send them to me I'll post them. :)

So after all of this is over, in 5 weeks we have to pack everything back up and move again, then unpack again. I'm aching just thinking about it.

My apartment is being torn up and renovated. So the building management moved me into another apartment while the renovations are being done. :)

My friend Jenna is planning to use the opportunity to steal one of my cats. She is in love with my cuddly boy, Silver. :)

Maybe in December. Can't wait to have a cat again. :)

Moving is a mofo, but at least in the process you get rid of a bunch of stuff you'd forgotten you had and don't need.

I have no idea how I got them, but I really appreciate them. Whenever word gets out that I need them they all show up in force.

I convinced one of them, JenaLaw, to join DU. Unfortunately, she doesn't post often because she goes online from her blackberry. It's east to lurk but hard to post. Another one of my friends, Tovah, will probably be joining DU soon. :)

he'd developed a benign tumor in his leg, but it was pressing against the bone and slowly causing it to crack. The doctors told him that if the leg actually broke before surgery, they probably wouldn't be able to save it. So he was on crutches and trying to do as little work as possible until he could get the surgery done. Unfortunately he's one of those people who can't sit on his ass and do nothing, so he kept trying to get up and work. :P

A few months prior he'd gotten pink-eye, and had worn an eye-patch for a day or two. So I told him in no uncertain terms that I'd already seen him looking like a pirate, there was no need for me to ever have to see him with a peg-leg.

And I may have *mumble mumble threatened to break his other leg if he didn't stop trying to work mumble mumble* or something like that... O8)

Yeah, I eventually got him to sit down in the back and do paperwork, then when he got too antsy I found a stool the right height so he could sit in the front and answer phones, and take pizzas out of the oven without having to get off his feet. (the original owners had the foresight to install an extra phone right next to the oven. :) )

Of course, a lot of women keep insisting that all the cute guys are guy. :shrug:

to. He and his younger brother (who also worked there) were, despite being rabid sports fans when a game was on, pretty laid-back and cool, and had the capacity to actually read books and stuff so I could still have conversations with them about things OTHER than sports. :P

Now that they've taped me up once they're going to get bold and think they can do it again. I'll have to be careful around them whenever there is tape nearby.

If you continue to overwork yourself...we will resort to more drastic measures for the return move. We do it out of love for you...

and remember, Thom...you taught me how to use the lethal staple gun just last night...so you have no one to blame but yourself...

behave and we will invite sailors over to help with the return move. Misbehave and face Elves with weapons. It is your choice!
