2010 Camaro gets an official pricing!
http://www.5thgen.org/forum/showthread.php?t=8438

Gotta say, compared to the Mustangs, you'll get WAY more car for only 2 or 3 grand more! Base v6 model, under $22k, which has a 300hp v6 BTW, and $31k for the SS model. Not anymore expensive than the 2002 Camaro SS.

2. Doesn't the Pontiac G8 GT run much less for the same specs?
Short of the 'Vette, I've favored Pontiac over Chevy. But then, I've also chosen Buick over Chevy. Loved my Grand National.

4. The G8 offers weaker engines and is an automatic only
It's also a sedan, not a coupe, and I'm getting the itch for two doors vs four!

5. The base G8 runs for $27k.
Which is way too much for what it is. The GT v8 model is only a few grand more, and more worth it.

7. That was my point.
The GT is a mid-13 car for under $30k, and comes with half the options the Camaro wants money for.

8. You said less for the same specs...
Are you talking option wise or performance? The Camaro will be a much faster car for the money. Though the g8 wont be very far behind at all, between the base models the v6 Camaro is a real bang for the buck deal.

6. I had a '70 GTO
I used to street race with it in high school. Beat every boy I ever raced 'cept one guy w/an SS. The bet was that the winner got to drive the other one's car. He's the ONLY boy I let drive it and it's only 'cause I was true to my word.

3. The middle of the line LT2 is my pick for the new Camaro
I won't be getting one for a few years, first until the initial rush is off and the inevitable dealer markups go the way of the dodo bird, secondly once any initial teething pains are out of the car.

The six-cylinder, six-speed manual will easily handle whatever mid-life crisis I happen to be going through at the time.

Ask the UAW if that is going to happen.

Doom and gloom, DU at it's very worst.

21. UAW, schmUAW
I'm a union supporter from Michigan, but all of the pro-union votes, and great union work and organizing that those workers do can't fix the fact that GM is being run by total fucking ass-hats. Their CEO doesn't think that global warming is caused by people. Just think about that. I honestly think that almost anyone could do a better job running the US auto companies than whoever they've had for the past 10 - 15 years. Maybe it is "doom and gloom", but what's happened to chrysler? Sure, maybe GM will exist as a badge name for a Chinese owned auto company, but I don't have high hopes for ownership and production remaining in the US, and especially not in Michigan. They've just announced that they're shutting down a stamping plant in my home town. What do you think that means? Do you think that's a sign of progress and foretells great fortune for the future of GM? Wake up!! Look at what is really happening to US manufacturing. Hopes and prayers won't keep it afloat.

28. sweet!
I look forward to your upcoming album of songs singing the praises of GM, which you have recorded in an underground bunker, unaware that GM went out of business years ago. If ignorance really is bliss, I'm missing out.... but it seems like your willful ignorance is hurting when put face-to-face with the cold sad truth.

18. I dont like how they say it will acheive 23mpg highway, thats bullshit., it'll get better than that.
I mean come on, its using the same friggin drivetrain as the Vette, and those cars get 30mpg easily on the highways.

29. Their wont be a Z28, the car is a little heavier than my 01 trans am...
Edited on Wed Oct-15-08 02:48 PM by CRF450
Which weighs in at 3600lbs. Despite its weight, this car handles alot better than the last gen C5 Corvettes. It turned up a track time of 8:20 at the German Nurburgring, the car behind that is the BMW M3 E46 that was a couple seconds slower. So anyone that says new camaro cant handle curves, are talking out of their asses.

25. 2 short Camaro stories
#1
My tiny, white-haired, 83 year old mother, who hasn't driven anything but a Camaro since she got rid of her '63 Dodge Dart in 1968, went car shopping for a new Camaro 10 years ago. The dealer thought she was a resident of the senior housing across the street, and essentially threw her out.

He changed his tune when my dad called and ripped him a new one (of course, the guy ended up making the sale, so you really showed him, didn't you, Dad?)

#1
When shopping for my first new car, my mother lent me her Camaro to go car shopping. I test drove a 4-cylinder putt-putt, came back to the dealership, and said "your car is broken - when I put my foot on the gas, it doens't go."

The dealer laughed and said "I saw what you drove here in - you're aware it has 8 cylinders, right?"

Typical non-gearhead girl, I replied "well, why don't you make your cars with more cylinders then?"
