2. Hi lioness!
I spent last week in the hospital. My pain doc is screwing with my meds, so things have gotten out of control. I've been having some kind of neurological spells my husband calls "twilighting", and last week I was diagnosed with a stenosed artery in the right side of my brain. So, at least we know why it's happening. There's just nothing that can be done until it's way worse.

So, how are you and Rockit? Two people in love warms my soul. :loveya:

7. Yeah, it sucks.
But at least we know why this is happening and that, in itself, is a great relief. I thought I was getting Alzheimer's. Still, with all this going on, I went to the TX state fair, went to Austin for a - get this - gun owner's caucus, and go to the Rick Noriega rally last night. And all that is after spending all last week in hospital. My coping skills are usually pretty good. ThomCat has helped me with that and I'm forever grateful.

I've heard that they were a gift and have lived and propogated there ever since. As you can tell, they are not shy.

16. It is local
A breeding pair were given as a gift a long time ago to the governor of Texas. They live on the capitol grounds and since people are allowed to use it as a park, they are fat and happy. In fact, it is illegal to harm them.

14. How nice.
I remember a little squirrel we called Chi Chie who'd come into our house looking for peanuts. When she had two little babies she brought them over for a visit. We were in the backyard and the babies tried to nibble on my little tot's toes. It was the cutest thing ever. Animals are a lot smarter and thoughtful than most people think. One day the mom had ate a lot of food and she laid face down on a pepper tree branch and fell down. She didn't get hurt but when I laughed she seemed embarassed and I felt bad so I apoligized.

17. I hear you, Sequoia
The little blonde squirrel would kind of "flea bite" my hand and fingers when she ate all the peanuts to let me know she wanted more. It was silly.

About a year or so ago I was looing atthe LA Times on the computer from up here in N. Cal and read an article how the city of SM was thinking of ways to get rid of the squirrels. No, no..not my little Chi Chi and family!!

24. Hey...!
These squirrels are for lovin', not for eatin'!

Me, I've never eaten a squirrel before, and I don't plan to, either. They're just tiny little things trying to make their way in the world like the rest of us.

25. They're cute, but good eatin', too.
I don't hunt them any more. They taste much better than you would imagine, better than rabbit, I think. I remember eating them as a really young kid, at least 50 years ago. Pretty common to hunt squirrel here in S.E. Ohio. When pioneers cut down the huge Ohio hard wood forest squirrels were so numerous that the state government had a kind requirement that land owners shoot a certain amount of squrrels annually or face an extra tax. You had to collect their little ears as proof. Reason being they could devastate a field of corn. Then during the depression squirrels were nearly wiped out by hungry people. I understand it seems cruel to many people.

27. Oh, forgot to say.
My 88 year old mother feeds them corn. She has one visitor that has some unusual coloration. He is a fox squirrel but his entire belly and face is black. She loves her "pet" squirrels. And she used to hunt them when she was a little girl on the farm.
