Baseball TV announcer: "If it's a curve ball, the hitter is trying to gauge the curve ball at the pitcher's release point to see whether to expect it to break to the left or not. If it breaks to the left, the hitter is going to step into the ball and try to hit it towards the hole between shortstop and third, because he knows the shortstop's range is limited by the fact that there are two outs and a runner on first with a good amount of speed. So depending on how the hitter gauges the rotation of the ball, he's going to swing and try to create a good amount of lift if he makes contact. Now if it's a change up, the hitter is going to hold off on his swing until the last moment and then try to hit it to right, as statistically he knows this pitcher does not fare well when players attempt to hit to the opposite field and two outs..."
