For the first time in over three years, I am ahead on each and every bill of mine. For the first time in over three years, I will paying zero late charges this month. I am ecstatic! I actually transferred a tidy sum of this week's paycheck into my savings account and hope (with crossed fingers, hands clasped in prayer, and a dash of humility gracefully thrown over my shoulder) that I can begin doing this again every week.
On the other hand, it's seems so... I dunno-- anti-climatic to be as happy as I am about this.
But on the third hand, I don't care about the other hand! I'm happy and will splurge tonight by purchasing non-store brand milk and coffee, and maybe even pick up a movie in Target's five-dollar DVD bucket (maybe the ones I couldn't afford two years ago are reduced by now). :)
Ahhh... the life of extravagance. Paris (Texas) beckons. Berlin (Oklahoma) could be my future.
This is a BIG relief to me. And since I don't talk about this stuff with co-workers, and won't talk about it with family, and my friends are all pretty well-off and don't quite understand, I thought I'd regale you guys with my dramatic, Rocky Balboa style comeback (hey! that might be the movie to get...).
So many rants and raves these days, so few tales of success. Although I may set a rather low bar for success, to me this reeks of personal success!
Who knows-- in a few months, I may even get internet and basic cable TV back. Yes, I know-- quite the hedonistic plan for someone so soon out of debt :P
