Anyone see "W" yet? I am finding mixed reviews.
I see suggestions of "oedipal" father/son issues, (which I already knew). And also that the condi character came off as a bit of a buffoon.

To those who have seen it, what did you think? Is it worth seeing?

1. That's because the real Condi comes off as a bit of a buffoon.
So she has a PhD, plays piano at the concert level, and speaks fluent Russian.

If you work for this administration, you're a buffoon...end of story...

2. Yes she is a buffoon. But how does one explain cheney?
He's a smart guy. That's what is so fucking scary, is that he was the one in charge. And created the mess we are in now.

6. I thought it was pretty good.
The ending was too abrupt, but the casting was excellent. Condi didn't come off so much as a buffoon as a complete sycophant, a yes-woman who only wanted to please Bush. Dreyfuss was just great as Cheney. The basic premise of the movie, as far as I could tell, was that Bush was basically an alcoholic, under-achieving loser who kept getting put down by his father in favor of brother Jeb, and everything he did was to impress the old man. But since W. was never all that bright, he also fucked up everything he tried, culminating in the Iraq disaster (engineered with equal incompetence by Cheney and Rumsfeld). I got the impression Stone thought his "conversion" to born-again-ism might have been the result, in part, of an especially horrible hangover. Stone's W. seems to be a guy with serious daddy issues who isn't very bright and who doesn't appreciate his limitations, and unwittingly allows himself to be led around by smarter people because he wants to outdo his brother and prove himself to daddy. And it might very well be true.

I liked the movie, overall. The performances were mostly spot on.

12. I've seen the real thing
8 years of this asshole was enough for me..lol. And it cost me a lot of cash, I'm not blowing another 10 bucks to see what I didn't want to see in the first place.

But seriously, it might be a funny movie to see..in a sad-funny sort of way.
