Has Dexter already jumped shark?
We're three episodes into season three, and it just isn't as gripping as the first two seasons. Are we the only ones who feel this way? Too much niceness. Not enough troubled dark character.

1. He's killed three people in three episodes.
I don't think the show will ever top the first season, but so far this one seems pretty good to me. It's early, and so far we already have a high-placed local official who is the only one alive who knows anything about Dexter's extra-cirricular activities.

I do agree with you in the sense that the first two episodes probably could have been done just as well if not even more effectively in one 90-minute episode, but this is definitely better than the start of last year, when Dexter temporarily lost the stomach to kill.

I'm a bit shaky about Rita being pregnant, though. Adding a baby to a show generally brings it down. I'm kind of hoping that someone causes Rita to have some sort of accident in which she loses the kid and Dexter responds with cellophane and cutlery.

2. it jumped the shark with episode 1
I think that show is unwatchable. The premise is less believable than that of Star Trek, and the characters less developed and less sympathetic than those on a My Little Pony cartoon.
