R.I.P. Little Man Tate: 2000-2007
This is the most difficult post I've ever made, and one I did not think I would make for many years. Last night we lost Tate (aka Little Man Tate). He was only seven and it was sudden and massive (I think his heart). He had been bouncing around the house just hours before...



He was an Egyptian Mau, and the smartest cat I've ever known. And as a Mau, he did not meow, he would sing in a beautiful, melodious voice. He was also my little buddy and had bonded most with me. I am just numb - I can't believe he's gone.

I'm so sorry you lost your beautiful cat at such a young age. I don't know what's worse--sudden death or a lingering one, but it's stories like yours that make me believe it's the former. :hug:

Seems like we're losing a lot of DU-kittehs (and doggies) lately... :(

21. Wow, so sorry to hear that. Condolences and sympathies.
Too sudden, that's always the hardest. Hang in there.

A practical comment, though. Hope it's not too soon. When you've calmed a bit, search the house and see if there are any chemicals or poisons he could have gotten in, including stuff that's not toxic to people but is to cats. If you get another cat to fill your void, you'll want to be sure the house is safe. It sounds like just a congenital defect, but just in case.

Sorry for the loss. He looks like a jolly, playful fellow. One day you'll only remember the good parts, and you'll enjoy the memories, rather than feeling the pain. Hope that comes soon.

22. Our house is cat- and ferret-proofed, and all chemicals and poisons are
kept in the basement in a locked cabinet. There's no way he got into it.

i had a friend who had two of them, they were very cool cats.

my heart goes out to you, Mike.

i lost a boy cat (the very excellent Junior) at 7 yrs also to a heart problem. we knew he was very sick and he had been going to a kitty cardiologist, so we were somewhat prepared, but still much saddened at his passing. on his last day he did everything he liked to do, he had a perfect day. so please hold your last memories of Little Man and be joyous that his last day was full of play and joy.

We lost one of our cats earlier last year quite suddenly. I honestly dread the day when I have to say goodbye to one of our two kitties - they're some of the best "friends" I have, loyal as anything, and I cherish every minute I spend with them.

Perhaps donate to a local cat rescue (or other feline-centric organization) in Tate's memory. Take time to mourn, cry, but know that the pain will pass.

I just looked up the breed, I had never heard of Maus before (we have housecats, Tabbies), anyhow, one website mentioned that they are prone to cardiomyopathy. I know you must be just devastated, I would be too. :hug: :hug: The description of these cats makes me want one, described as melodious, cuddlers, they sound just utterly fantastic.
