When they call us communists, they're wrong then, too, but at least they're on the correct end of the ideological spectrum.

Do they even f*****g KNOW what Fascism is??? :banghead:

1. Probably not.
The whole Obama is Hitler! meme shows a woeful lack of knowledge of both civics and history.

2. Of course they don't. They know very little. They don't know what Communism actually is, either.
Nor do they truly understand what Democratic Republic means. Nor socialism.

Nor do they realize that the United States is actually a capitalist market that is only partially free and also is partially socialist, and has always been partially socialist.

But, they can't handle nuance - they can only think in terms of either/or, not both/and.

And yes, the labeling of liberals as fascists is perhaps their biggest, most ignorant blunder; especially when they call us fascist communists.

3. Because Hitler was an atheist, he must therefore be a leftist

5. Whatever his actual beliefs, Hitler was raised in a strict Catholic household. He understood
the importance of pandering to conservative Christians. "Mein Kampf" is larded through and through with references to God, Germany and its "Christian" mission. Heinrich Himmler, the head of the SS, wanted to eradicate Christianity and institute a neo-pagan "religion" that harkened back to Germany's pre-Christian "Golden Age". Hitler told him to tone it down, or they would lose the support of right-wing German Christians.

Some tactics never change...

8. They use it to feed the stupid
The right wing has lumped socialism into the 'evil' category. "Socialists, Communists, Fascists, all the same thing, eeeeeevil dictators, all of them". This allows them to make all the terms interchangeable. The stupid fall for it easily because 1 - they do not understand what the words mean, only that they are all eeeeeeevil. 2 - They don't bother to find out what the words mean for themselves. In general, the stupid become Republicans.

10. Because they're ignorant of history & politics; ask one about the "Democrat" Party and civil rights
Edited on Fri Oct-24-08 11:02 AM by dawgmom
The truly ignorant Freeper type has no clue about history or politics; they're just mouthing what they've heard. Have you ever encountered one who will try and tell you about how Republicans were really the pro-civil rights party, and Democrats opposed? It's no use trying to explain to them about Dixie-crats and the dark part of the Democratic Party's history, and the shift of bigots from the Democratic party to the Republican Party in the 60s. They have no nuanced knowledge of history. It's a shame, really -- because as a result they have no appreciation for the fact that there was a time when there were some truly fine and good leaders in the Republican party.

14. Because they focus on the "Socialist" part of "National Socialist"
Hitler was a Nazi, Nazi is short for "National Socialism"... must be another word for commie.

It's not the content, it's the label. These are the same people buying "Longitude", "Extendz", and "Enzyte" on the automatic monthly refill plan.

"It says's I'll get a giant P3N!$, so it MUST BE TRUE!!!"

17. because they think in newspeak

From the foregoing account it will be seen that in Newspeak the expression of unorthodox opinions, above a very low level, was well-nigh impossible. It was of course possible to utter heresies of a very crude kind, a species of blasphemy. It would have been possible, for example, to say Big Brother is ungood. But this statement, which to an orthodox ear merely conveyed a self-evident absurdity, could not have been sustained by reasoned argument, because the necessary words were not available. Ideas inimical to Ingsoc could only be entertained in a vague wordless form, and could only be named in very broad terms which lumped together and condemned whole groups of heresies without defining them in doing so.

1984, George Orwell

They know fascism is bad, liberals are bad, so liberals are fascists.

Their language and thought processes do not support nuanced political arguments. As in 1984, everything is black or white.

Attempts at analysis and thoughtful definition of political tendencies are heresy to them, a sign of "elitism"
