Lounge Skiers: Enlighten me of Telluride....
They're having a gay week in late February that I'm considering attending. I REALLY miss the slopes, and this might be just the ticket. I know that Aspen and Whistler both have gay weeks, but: 1- They both conflict with some prior engagements... and 2- they would require my bank account to be somewhat more robust than it is (unless I was willing to slap it all on credit cards, which I'm not).

So what is Telluride like? Is the terrain fairly diverse, or is it more to one direction or the other? It's a gay week, so I'm going to assume it will be at least gay tolerant for the time I'm there. Any info would be most appreciated.

3. I've never been there, but I can tell you
that lots of people in Colorado - locals you can trust - talk about it in glowing terms. I also hear it's got a really cool town environment. I encourage you to go. If you haven't been skiing in awhile I'm sure there is something for you up there and even if you wear out there should be plenty of diversions in town.

The closest place to there that I have skied personally is Crested Butte, which reportedly has the highest percentage of "expert only" terrain in Colorado, and even they have some places to take it easy. So I'm sure Telluride will offer you something you'll like. It's a completely different experience than skiing in the I-70 corridor, I have found. Definitely a good time.

4. Thanks!
Hopefully, wearing out won't be a problem. Though I haven't been in a while, I've been keeping myself more or less in shape! Expert only would certainly pose a problem for me- Last time I was on the slopes was about 5 years ago, and at the time I was very comfortable on blue to blue/black. This was at Winter Park, for the record. What I think I might do is cough up the dough for a private lesson the first day out, just to get an expert's take on where I am skill-wise, and maybe get some pointers to move me a little forward in my abilities.

A cool town environment is always a plus, too, for the Apres Ski activities! But if I go for this event, that shouldn't be an issue...

5. It's beautiful. Old mining town at the end of a box canyon.
Good ski area, but it's been Aspenated. Don't go unless you are extremely attractive, extremely cool or extremely rich. In fact you should be all three.

6. It doesn't seem THAT out of line, price-wise....
from what my initial research has shown. Yeah, it's more expensive than Winter Park, but not forbiddingly more expensive.

Am I attractive and cool enough? Who's the ultimate authority on that?

It's a cool place for stuff like that, they have a bluegrass festival that's world renowned and the skiing is top notch.
