It happened very late Monday night. It was heartbreaking.
As Flvegan knows, she started having extremely bad psychic seizures that lasted for a few minutes at first, then started lasting longer and longer. She would SCREAM and run around the house blindly. It terrifying us, Mick, and the kitty. After talking to the rescue, they asked for us to bring her back so she could have tests done at a renowned academic animal hospital. Long story short: what she has is barely treatable by medication, and she needs to live with someone who is home most of the day and who has animal medicine experience. There is a retired vet who offered to take her, and the rescue asked us if we would do it. We did, because it was in her best interest. As I said before, it was heartbreaking.
We had planned to not look for another dog for a while, because this was just so upsetting for us. However, our shepherding training knew a local sheep farmer had a pup an owner had given up for "too much energy," which is why almost all border collie puppies are given up. It means that the owner doesn't feel like taking care of them. So, we got her today. She's 4 1/2 moths old, Mick is jealous of her. We've named her "Beag" (Beck), which means "little" in Gaelic. I'm posting her photo in a thread of its own.
