I DID IT!!!!!! I got my Ipod music transferred back onto my computer with no loss
:woohoo:

I re-imaged my computer about 3-4 months ago assuming that if all my music was on my ipod I could just transfer it back. And then I found out that wasn't the case. Mind you I have like 10k songs on this thing and some of them I don't have the CDs anymore so if I lose my Ipod I lose alot of music.

My biggest fear was if I put my Ipod on Itunes the sync would start working and erase music. So last night (after a failed attempt with a refurbish that is being returned), I bought a new Nano and used that to turn off my sync. Then I used PoddMaxx to get the music backed up off of my Ipod and transferred into my Itunes

All done

:woohoo:

As for the new Nano, a very dear friend of mine did a major favor for me earlier with a very expensive ticket I bought and ended up not using. She got someone else to use it but I know she lost money on it and everytime I tried to give her something for it she wouldn't take the money. So I'm giving her the Ipod (she's been talking about getting one) as a present. She knows my issue with getting my Ipod songs back onto the computer so she won't be upset that the thing was used by me for about 10 minutes.

1. Well done!
:applause: And thanks for the PodMaxx clue - iTunes ate my playlist a couple of weeks ago, and some of my music disappeared as well, stuff that I now only have on my iPod.

5. I don't get it? Why would Itunes delete music without asking?

6. During an update
Since it never did that before, I had no qualms about updating the software, but when all was said and done, half my playlists were missing and some of my music as well. For the former, I think iTunes fell back on an older XML file, but for the latter, that's never happened before. I have since updated the software again, and nothing hinky happened. Go fig.

4. I sure wish we could put iTunes from an iMac onto an MP3 player
I bought the MP3 player before my PC permanently died. Then I bought an iMac. Without researching, stupid me hooked up my MP3 player to the iMac only to have it jam up the MP3 player with crap files. I wound up having to delete all 1900 songs since I could not open any music files any longer. Now all I have is a $160 portable FM radio.
