22. If fresh, organic, and cooked properly.
Commercial asparagus has a metallic taste, usually is flavorless, at least in the stores I have made the mistake of buying from.

I got spoiled, we grew our own for 10 years.

And cut into 3/4 inch slices, stir fried with a touch of clack bean sauce for about 4 minutes tops....then a slight dash of soy sauce....heavenly.

25. it does make some pee smell odd...the funny thing is...
you have to have the proper genetics to have your pee smell odd after asparagus,
and you also have to have the right gene to be able to smell the oddness!

If you don't have the gene that causes the smell byproduct of the breakdown of asparagus, your pee will smell normal.
If you don't have the sensory gene for detection, you won't smell the difference.

I have both, so I know the smell is sorta like an old gym locker.

kinda nice.

19. Thin and tender, lightly sauteed or steamed, it's fine
Unfortunately my older relatives think that bigger is better in all things, so they buy these great hulking tree trunks. Tough. Stringy. BLECH.

21. I just had a little bit of steamed asparagus with some pesto on pasta.
I steamed a little broccoli, asparagus and carrot, then tossed them with a little chicken breast and pasta and a can of mushrooms.

It was yummy
