Good God, reading DU is like reading a truck stop bathroom wall--everybody hating something or someone. Be positive. Who the hell spends time worrying about what tv shows or artists or musicians or books they hate when you got 50 brazillion options you can enjoy instead? Why do people find it better to hate than to enjoy?

I just watched Ratatouille again. I love that movie. And I love Peter O'Toole in that movie, and in everything I've ever seen him in. And I love Gene Wolf Novels, and old Paul Simon songs, and "The Life of Pi," and tofu dishes at Pei Wei, and driving along the beach, and "Music of the Spheres" wind chimes. And life, damnit. Life is fun. Even when it's not, it is. What do you enjoy? Aside from kicking the dog or yelling at kids on your lawns, for some of you schnauzers.

1. My dear jobycom!
I take joy in so many things!

How can I possibly choose?

My family, my DU family, my poetry, my pictures!

And these are just the ones that come to mind right off the bat...

What a great idea for a thread, sweetie!

2. I predict it will sink like a stone.
Scream about 900 bodies floating in the Gulf during a media blackout, and everyone posts. Say happy stuff, and unless you are named California Peggy, no one listens. :)

6. Nice post, Hitler.
Man, this is hard.

Hmmm...

Errrr....

Ah, there's this...no wait, I hate that.

Ummm....

Uhhhh...

Ok, I give up.

Nah, just kidding, God bless God bless...

I love my best friend and my ex-wife. I love my cat, Frisco. I love music. I love Godzilla related anything (and just monster movies in general). I love a day where the weather is in the 30's, it's overcast, and there's a hint of snow falling. I love sex, though this kind of thing should go without saying. I love science, all fields. I love hockey. I love people who can create something from nothing. I love intelligence (because I lack it myself!). I love a good meatball. I love any game where you can kill Nazis or zombies. Any game that lets you kill Nazi zombies is nirvana!

There's probably a few other things here and there. :)

14. Great request! Never mind the bollocks!
I love my kid. I love him even more when he sleeps all night through instead of wandering in the wee hours, causing me interrupted sleep as well--but that hardly ever happens. Even so, he's a good kid.

I love my family, my friends, the fact that we had a lovely fall and now it's snowing. I love the fact that I have the career I always wanted (writer) and have learned much of what I always wanted (metaphysics)--and yet there's still so much to know.

I love my broken-down old house even though it's taking FOREVER to fix up.

I love all the great things I've done in my life (and lived) and I cherish the memories of those times.

I love to sing even if it's just in the car nowadays.

I love the fact that my brother is the only person on the planet who can make me laugh till I pee my pants a little. Oh--and I love it when my mother and her sister get the giggles like they're little kids, even though they're in their 80s.

And I love DU and the opportunity to yammer about stuff just like this! :D

22. Ah.... a positive post!
 Thanks for asking!

I love my family, fur-kids, and good friends the most.

Everything else is "strongly like" or "really enjoy". Here are a few of those: the ocean, snow, the mountains, foggy mornings, the color turquoise, turquoise jewelry.

Horses, Dr. Zhivago, kindergarteners, old-time democrats, good food, great art, soul music. Lots more.... just a sample listed here.

because I could imagine you saying "I'll throw in Martin Lawrence just to see if anyone is paying attention."

Not that I don't like Martin. I do, and I think that when he's got a good script or a good routine, he's fantastic. He's just done some weaker stuff here and there that gets him criticized a lot.

I love my mom's spaghetti and meatballs and a glass of merlot and cigarette out on the front porch after a shitty day at work.

I love any books by Mark Salzman and Anne Lamott and most books by Stephen King. I love Karen Armstrong. I love books and school and pens and paper and BookTV. I love Billy Collins' poetry and LOTR and The Golden Compass books.

34. Okay, about football.
So American football is called football even though most things are done with your hands. Football for everyone else we call soccer, and socking someone is done with your hands, yet in soccer you don't use your hands and you aren't allowed to hit anyone, anyway.

Enough to make you think that either Americans or the rest of the world is crazy.

38.  I love
My family.

Taking a hot bath with music playing. Walking or playing in the rain, jumping in the puddles.

To read and listen to music. The smell and feel of crisp fall morning, leaves dancing in the wind and crunching underfoot. Photography, in my photos I see things people look at every day and never notice.

To swing on a swing like the child I am inside, not a care in the world and for those precious few minutes...I don't have any worries. Smiling faces, children's laughter, the smell of a baby after a bath. My ex, things may not have worked out they way we wanted but the love and friendship are still there. Sex,coffee, chocolate, wine, and so many more things.

This is a great thread. A little positive thinking never hurt anyone.
