PORTLAND, Ore. -- Police said an alert tipster helped deputies nab a pair of suspected burglars and recover up to $30,000 in stolen jewelry Wednesday.

The burglary happened just after 4 a.m. at Ari Diamonds on Southwest Beaverton-Hillsdale Highway.

Washington County detectives said a woman driving by noticed three men leaving in a hurry. She followed their pickup truck long enough to give 9-1-1 dispatchers a description.

Deputies arrested 55-year-old Daniel Schweitzer Jr. Soon after deputies found 47-year-old Roger Dean Herrin hiding in a port-a-potty.

Investigators said they found a stash of jewelry and burglary tools in the pickup.

A third suspect on the loose, deputies said.
