{{{sigh}}} You know that you're a grownup
When you pass a Dentist's office where the sign out front says "Gift Certificates for Christmas" and you think "Wow! I wish someone would give me one of those!" I've never seen a sign like that before: is it symptomatic of our shitty economy?

This summer, my parents paid for me to go to the dentist when I went home to visit them. I hadn't really thought about it, but I guess I hadn't been to a dentist in 7 years. I had two cavities filled - the first cavities I've had since I was a tiny kid, as in, I had no fillings at all in my adult teeth before thins. Note to self: go to the dentist more often than once every 7 years.

5. Sure I've seen gift certificate signs for almost everything
Drugstores, restaurants, supermarkets, even the veterinarian. But never for a dentist before. Gods know I've put off having dental work done due to the expense, but even more people must be cutting back if they're advertising like that.
