Some sad news...my father has passed away

It is a testament to this place, I think, that I feel I can post a thing such as this here. So much comes and goes on these pages, so much is shared. At bottom, people are so supportive, and it feels like I would have been breaking some sort of bond with some of you to wait until after the funeral to bring it up.

Life is good. We know that here. Thanks for being my true internet family and community.

My mother passed away yesterday as well.

I wonder if they met on the journey to the other side? If they did, they no doubt got into a discussion about, "What's with our kids? Why are they always doing this DU thing? What's up with that?"

My mom died when I was 21, my father followed 8 years later. There is no replacing them, I've filled the void they left with memories of laughter, music and love - the gifts they gave me, the love they shared.

There just is nothing that can be said in times like this that will ease your pain. I can only hope that it brings some comfort to know you are not alone and that you have people who love and support you.

I think the one thing that helped more than anything when my father passed last March was when people told me about him and their interactions with him. Sharing memories helped a lot, I found.
