5. It's not, we're Union commercial/industrial electricians.
Chaos at the end of the job makes for dangerous situations.

10. One of the reason I went into electronics
Nothing over 12 volts. Nowadays it's even less. Except that time I was tasked with designing a CCFL power supply. Shocked the hell out of myself with that circuit.

14. You don't have three phase in your home.
You have single phase 110/220. You got hit with 110, which kills more people than any other voltage.

17. Yep
More people do die from 110 vac than any other voltage.Mainly because 110 vac is more accessable to the average joe than higher voltages.
Also, electricians tend to build up a sense of contempt for little ol' 110 after working with higher voltages.

Very few homes have 3 phase. The ones that do are usually huge mansions that are large enough to require commercial heat/air cond systems and/or commmercial grade kitchens.
Personnaly,I have only seen residential 3 phase service in 4 houses over a thirty year career as an electrician.

13. I once got 20,000 volts or so
But the amperage was next to nothing, so I barely felt it.

I was adjusting the ignition timing on my car — had my hand on the distributor cap and something arced. One second I was leaning over the fender and the next I was on my butt. I don't remember falling back, just being on the grass.

25. You can get 20kv or more by walking across the room and touching a doorknob
But very low current, obviously.

16. I have you all beat- Lightning strikes REALLY get your attention.
When I was a kid at scout camp the tree next to our picnic table was hit by lightning. The table had metal legs, I was sitting on a bolt. It went in my foot & out my buttocks. It threw me about 15 feet away from the table, I couldn't feel my leg for a while, spent the night in a hospital & had third degree burns on my toe & butt cheek.

26. I once watched a guy short a 220v arc welder across his upper body.
Accidentally, of course. Good thing he was strong as an ox- it didn't even knock him out! But he DID move kinda carefully the rest of the afternoon...
