German engineering my ass, redux.
Well my 2003 VW Jetta has been paid off for a while now, and I swear it now costs me more in repairs than the monthly loan payments ever did.

1. I think they've been made in Brazil for quite awhile now.
Beemers and volkswagans have fallen far.

3. Just did a VIN search online
mine was made in Mexico. Fuckers.

Damn thing costs me about 400-600 dollars in repairs about every other month.

I guess I'm well past the Lemon Law stage.

4. European ones are still made in Germany.
But I imagine it is far easier to open a plant in North America to serve that market than ship the cars all the way there.

5. My '02 was a lemon too.
It got rear-ended and totaled in June. At first, I would not consider another German car, but Consumer Reports showed a remarkable improvement in reliability in the past three years. I wanted a station wagon too, so now I have the '09 model. It really is a much better car.
