5. It's funny how some of you people can't manage to define your pronouns or your nouns
What lid? What pot? Makes a ticking noise under what circumstances? Seriously, to say "the lid to the pot" could mean any one of thousands of possibilities, 99.9% of which are utterly useless to criminal investigation.

8. Well some of us are awful damn sober tonight.
:eyes: Here's the deal: if I just left it at "the lid" you would rip me a new asshole and I would deserve it. I think "the lid to the pot" narrows it down enough to enable even the meanest of us to understand what the hell I'm talking about.

18. A regular pot. What happened?
If this happens to me, should I put a towel over the pot before running away?

21. I would worry that the towel would catch fire
What happened is this: The fan in the kitchen is leaking NASTY brown shit onto one of the burners. We were cooking asparagus on that burner and I put a lid on the pot so the nasty brown shit didn't drip in our food. I used the wrong size lid, and a minute later it began ticking. I took the lid off the pot and put it on a different, empty pot. A few seconds later it shattered. If I hear that sound again I will put it in the sink so there are not little glass pieces all over the floor. x(

16. This sounds like valuable info - are you saying that an ordinary glass lid
shattered while you were cooking? What were you cooking? At what temperature? Was it previously damaged? Hope you and the bystanders are uninjured...

22. Yes, asparagus, boiling temps, not that I could see
And it was made out of shatterproof glass, so there were no injuries. :)
