NO GOSSIP! PLEASE get office gossip away from me.
I thought this place was more professional than this. Please, cow-irkers . . . please don't stoop. Don't "dish." Don't gossip.

1. They just got done getting the scoop and the Scooper walked away
and now they're gasping & clucking... "ohhh, my GOD..." "interesting" "MAY-un!" "You know that's gonna get around --" well, no shit!

"I'm at a loss for words. Phew!"

2. Listen in
Don't spread it, but do listen in.

Sorry, it's necessary. You can find out who's hiring, who's firing, who's getting kicked upstairs. These are all things that don't get out into the corporate official pipeline, but are good to know nonetheless.

3. It's why we evolved these big damned brains.
Gossip is one of the chief tools for keeping relationships strong and shaming rule-breakers.

But goddamn, it needs to be kept to a minimum in the office. x(

4. I make up names and stories...
I make up names and stories. A gaggle of gossipers in the break room dishing the juice back and forth. I jump right into it with, "Really? But did you hear about Crandall in Accounts Receivable? He got fired yesterday because he came back from lunch drunk and hit on his supervisor's daughter..."

Well, I amuse myself in all sorts of ways at work... :)

5. There is nothing more irritating than office gossip.
Fuck when I'm not at work I absolutely hate talking about it. I dont get paid for it, so why should I care during the off hours?

6. I've been really lucky there.
That's only been an issue at a couple of the places I've worked, and even then, it was only a very few people - so it was really easy to avoid.

7. No one tells me a damned thing
I realize this when chatting with the office biddy. And every office has one.

This title is bestowed without regard to gender. The biggest biddy I ever knew was male. My god, he knew EVERYTHING.
