14. That song makes me want to throw things for 2 reasons
1) My freaking HS Graduation speaker decided to base his speech on that song. And by "base" I mean recite the entire song, verse by verse, with precious little commentary between verses. And this was in '92, decades after the song was remotely current. I think the message was supposed to be "Don't forget about your parents when you go away," but aside from being pretty insulting and a downer to say at a graduation, totally missed that the point of the song was that it was Dad's negligence at fault.

2) The arrangement, ye gods! It's a pretty typical 70s singer-songwriter song. An acoustic guitar, or a piano - maybe a low-key rock arrangement is what you want here. But not only does it feature a sitar, 10 years after the Beatles first tried it, and about 6 years after it had died a deserved death as an annoying stylistic cliche, but there is this completely over-the-top string arrangement chugging along too. And somebody forgot to tell them that the song is supposed to be depressing.

The core song is decent enough, but I will never like it.

15. Oh, hello Mr. Soul
http://www.youtube.com/v/h12dZlaB1ws&hl=en&fs=1

I dropped by
to pick up a reason
For the thought that I caught
that my head
is the event of the season
Why in crowds just a trace
of my face
could seem so pleasin'
I'll cop out to the change,
but a stranger
is putting the tease on.

I was down on a frown
when the messenger
brought me a letter
I was raised by the praise
of a fan
who said I upset her
Any girl in the world
could have easily
known me better
She said, You're strange,
but don't change,
and I let her.

In a while will the smile
on my face
turn to plaster?
Stick around while the clown
who is sick
does the trick of disaster
For the race of my head
and my face
is moving much faster
Is it strange I should change?
I don't know,
why don't you ask her?
