apparently dudes around here like chicks with glasses

since i got my new glasses i get hit on much more... then again, maybe now i can just see when someone is flirting with me :rofl:

it's weird, because i would have thought the opposite about the effect of glasses :shrug:

I'm 41, have worn glasses for ten+ years, and I will never wear contacts. The idea creeps me out. Ew.

I wore contacts for a few months prior to (to get used to them) - and then at - my wedding. That's because my way-cool nerdy specs did not go with my gorgeous floral-beaded (tailored and oh-so-non-foofy) gown at all. I hated every second of wearing those things and thought my eyes would fall out. Without the glasses, I felt naked, so I probably shouldn't have bothered, but in the end it did look nice to have my face available for the photos. Enough so that I do keep some contacts around now for times when I want that option, but I still generally despise them. I maybe use them once a year, if that. When I do, I take those things out and put my glasses back on the minute I can.

With my glasses, which is 99.99% of the time, I do have that sultry librarian thing going on, or at least my honey thinks so. He's way hot for chicks with glasses. He just got his own glasses for the first time a few months ago, and I have to say that he, too, is way hotter now! So he is smarter than I thought. ;-)

or at least she should. She wears them for driving and watching TV and some other stuff, but most of the time, she doesnt'. I have NO problem with women wearing glasses.

Oddly, the one other woman I've been seriously interested in (in the past, of course) is the same way about glasses that my wife is. Should wear them, but doesn't except when really necessary. I don't really get it - they both look(ed) great with or without. :shrug:

when i don't wear them things are blurry or course, but i also get a headache

maybe it's just a thing we women have in our heads about glasses :rofl:

but since I read and grade a lot, I opt for putting my contacts in their waters. I haven't had contacts in my eyes for weeks.

I've found the same thing: dress down, wear my glasses and look rudely at the world and the world looks lustily back. It's the strangest damn thing.

My eye doc told me I could start wearing low power reading glasses "if I wanted to." So I did. Now guys go out of their way to compliment them. Very unexpected! The first reaction in my mind when they say something nice about them is always like, "What?! Are you serious?!"

In rural WA, it's more the Texas/Oklahoma accent than the Deep South or Appalachia, but it's definitely not the generic Upper Midwest accent that the larger towns and cities have.

As for your accent, I've heard Stephen Colbert talk about completely doing away with his Carolina accent as a teenager for much the same reason.

The glasses help hide the wrinkles (not that Ava needs to worry about that for a few decades!). I've gotten so I'll only allow myself to be photographed wearing glasses. I never got the hang of contacts, and the idea of allowing someone to etch my corneas with a laser is almost as terrifying as botox. Besides, I only use them for distance, and I spend far more time reading or on my computer than I do driving.

BTW, does anyone else want to introduce that poor woman who's frequently interviewed for comments on Olbermann to a decent optician? She's not unattractive, but I swear she stole those specs from Leon Trotsky! Unflattering doesn't even begin to describe them.

my mom and i were just talking about her glasses the other night while watching. they look entirely too small for her. i would think that they would be annoying since they are so small.

they do make her easily recongnized though, and at a public figure that is what she's probably shooting for.

It might be worth it to set up an appoint with Palin's optometrist-the Stephen Hawking of glass grinders.

Apparently, my glasses make me look bigger. They're lesbian glasses (supposedly).

I have crap gaydar. A guy actually GAVE ME HIS PHONE NUMBER one time, and I didn't even realize he was flirting with me until two or three hours later when it finally hit me. :P

Worst part is... I lost his phone number. And I met him at Sharper Image, which just shut down. So I'm not likely to run into him again anytime soon. D'oh.
