Yanks now going after Manny Ramirez

Holy Cow! I guess they're pulling out all the stops.

Why stop at a quarter billion dollars worth of pitchers? That's the way the Yankees are thinking.

Mark Feinsand of the New York Daily News is reporting that the Yankees want to sign Man-Ram and consider him "the perfect complement in their lineup to Alex Rodriguez, forming a 1-2 punch like he did in Boston with David Ortiz."

The official believes that the Yankees are "going hard" after Ramirez, to the point where they are willing to give him a three-year deal worth from $22 million to $25 million per year.

1. Manny would be poison in NY

I don't buy this for a second. They are going after Tex, but trying to get him cheaper & longer. Sure Manny's bat is fantastic, but his glove is non-existent. Tex has both great defense/offense skill in spades.

Until the recent trade to LA, it was not uncommon to see people in Washington Heights, his old stomping grounds and heart of NYC's Dominican community, wearing -- Dios mio! -- Red Sox jerseys (his).

9. He's a high-maintenance head case. They can have him.

In Boston, he was lucky to have managers who were either on a temperamental even keel (Francona) or too oblivious to care (Grady Little). Joe Girardi will kill either Manny or himself by June 1.

There's a good reason why the Red Sox and Dodgers cut him lose, and why the Braves, Cubs, and Mets are all avoiding him.
