1. At least you never had to see them live.
Man... I'd rather watch Mamma Mia.

2. Sublime's music, I don't mind. It's their influence on lesser bands I despise.
Those guys and Operation Ivy, while both decent in their own right, have a hell of a lot to answer for. All that "ska-punk" crap that was all over the radio back around '97-'98, helped make my seventh-grade year just a little bit shittier. Thanks, guys... :eyes:

5. Yeah, those are the same kids who play the same 6 (give or take) Bob Marley songs over and over.
Don't get me wrong, the guy was a great artist, but you wouldn't know it based on these twits endlessly looping "Jammin'" and "Buffalo Soldier" while they pass around their $300 quadruple-filtering bongs.

Throw in the occasional psychedlic, prog or jam band as well. Along with a hackey sack. College students...bullshit munchers, the lot of them. (Yeah, I am one, but my point remains, haha.)

21. Ugh, the amount of Dave Matthews I was subject to when hanging out with some of these people...
That they are alive today is a testament to my self control.

22. One of my college friends was a huge fan.
He was excited because he and a few other hardcore fans were going to the nearest DMB concert one night. Since the trip was about an hour by car, guess what they listened to on the way there?

Yep, Dave Matthews.

That is a trend I hope never to see again.

12. Because the Beatles wrote the tune?
It's not quite a straight rip, and the choruses are different, but the verses really are an awful lot like Lady Madonna.

19. eh, it's ok.
Not one of their better songs for sure. But it is catchy.

So you're a punk fan who doesn't like the Beatles? Penn (of Penn & Teller) wrote a pretty entertaining story in the 80's about a fallout shelter hidden in a shopping mall. The owner of the shelter was into The Clash and Joy Division, and playing any Beatles tune was punishable by death (although his DJ buddy got away with playing McCartney's "Live and Let Die.")

20. It's not that I don't like The Beatles, per se, they just don't do much for me.
That sounds like a fun story though, I need to track it down when I get home. :D

23. I think it was in "Cruel Tricks for Dear Friends."
in a little pamphlet that was a a mentalist trick prop (sigh, why can't I remember useful stuff?)

I love the Beatles, although I rarely listen to them anymore. I rebelled against the horrible, horrible pop music of my high school years (88-92) by getting into 60s rock and classical music.

The most depressing line is when he happily sings, "I don't care when my mom smokes pot..."
HUH???

27. Better than Cake's "Never there."
Those two songs plus Everlast's What It's Like on massive overplay rotation are the reason I stopped listening to commercial alt-rock radio. Fuck that shit.
