Poll question: Australia or New Zealand?
Edited on Tue Mar-02-04 09:49 AM by Screaming Lord Byron
I voted for New Zealand for the following reasons.

1. The Finn Brothers
2. The All-Blacks
3. The Movie 'Bad Taste' and its unknown director
4. Flying Nun Records
5. Edmund Hillary
6. General Bernard Freyberg
7. The Dunedin music scene
8. The city of Wellington
9. The superior leg room on Air New Zealand flights
10. Obscure kids show 'The Children of Fire Mountain'

Of course, it doesn't hurt that all the pictures I've seen from New Zealand look amazing.

9. There's more people diversity in Australia. . .
and there's an active Armenian presence in Sydney and Melbourne.

B-)

10. NZ!
Many reasons:

1) The Quiet Earth was filmed in New Zealand

2) New Zealand accepted my application for a work permit/landed immigrant status

3) Best sailing on Earth (East coast off Auckland)

4) My relatives live in Australia

5) The PM is a woman and a Socialist. She called Bush an idiot during a press conference, and then called another press conference, in which she reiterated her position.

19. Don't know. Don't know.
Probably Auckland, because I will be restricted to film work, as that's my trade.

As far as when, it won't be before mid-September, because I'm working up until Labour Day, and possibly moving house right after that. I still have to wait for my international criminal record search to be completed, which I have been told can take up to six months. Damn, I knew shooting all those people in Iceland would come back to haunt me.

But I'll PM you for info when I know.

20. Auckland's a fine city, though I prefer Wellington.
But if you want a film job in Wellington, there's only one guy you've gotta go to, of course.

12. I chose Australia, but only because...
NZ is the "in" place right now. I've wanted to go there for 10 or 12 years. Now, fricken EVERYBODY wants to go there.

but now it's NZ. It sucks, too. I never get anywhere I want to go until after it's become trendy.

14. Lord Rutherford.
Edited on Tue Mar-02-04 12:12 PM by NNadir
I know this doesn't compare with Xena the warrior princess, but Lord Rutherford, winner of the 1908 Nobel Prize in Chemistry, discoverer of the (since greatly refined) "planetary model" of the atom, was a native New Zealander.

22. NZ ...
As far as indigenous peoples go, the European New Zealanders treated the Maori fairly well. The Aborigines in Australia were treated far worse than Native Americans – they were literally hunted down like vermin.

Go, Aoteroa!

23. Too many expatriate Scots in NZ.
So I voted for Australia.

I keed, I keed.

I voted for Oz 'cause I've got a couple more friends there, and because the Scientists were better than Tall Dwarfs.
