I was actually happy to read that a family in BC, from Romania, already had 18, and therefore beat out the Duggars!!! Isn't it sad that this brings out such a stupid reaction in me?

Just did the math...16 (pregnancies) X 9 (# of months in a pregnancy- give or take) = 144 months.

Divide by 12 (# of months in a year)...

For some reason I have a mental image of someone moving a cocktail frank in and out of the wide open doors of the Vehicle Assembly Building at Cape Canaveral.

They choose to have kids, they can support them without public assistance, so what?

I don't agree with a thing the Duggars say or do, but I do know that their family life is their choice, is none of my business, and that I'm in no position to pass judgement on them.

It's another to have a family bigger than that of the average population of a lot of third world villages.

But as a typical RW-Christian-American "family", they are a huge burden on our limited resources. What kind of an example is TLC making by featuring them all the time?

If people jump down one another's throats here for driving SUVs, then the Duggers sure as hell deserve 20 times that contempt. I could drive around the planet in a Hummer about a hundred times and never begin to equal the carbon footprint of these overpopulating pigs. Sure, they have every right in the world to have as many kids as they want. And I have every right in the world to find them contemptible for doing so.

I'll bet their carbon footprint is only incrementally more than most families (once you have the baseline of a house and vehicle or two). In fact I'll bet it's lower on a per capita basis than many childless couples.
