Why does today have to be a snow day? WHY???? It was my last day of freedom before the holiday vacation for the whole damn family. It's just not fair. *stomps feet and pouts*

1. OMG you and me both, BNL!
I had SO MANY THINGS TO DO! Hair appointment at 10:30...nope. More Christmas shopping (I have NOTHING for my mother, aunt, and niece, and I need to get more toys for Jr.)...nope. Need to go to Weggies, need food...nope.

I was even looking forward to a lil' Dunkin' Donuts drivethrough on the way to my hair appointment. DENIED!

Still, the snow is purty...right?

Sigh.

2. The only pretty snow is on a postcard from far far away
Edited on Fri Dec-19-08 09:58 AM by DS1
I don't want to deal with it. I'm tired of it shrinking the widths of roads, getting my feet wet, hands cold, and car stuck.

10. I hear you
Shit, I offered to do Christmas Eve dinner for the entire family, including my brother and his family from California. But do I HAVE any food yet? NoOOOOoo. So I was going to get presents and essential food today, then "big dinner" food next week. Now I have to do EVERYthing on Monday.

At least your kids are a wee bit older than mine is, right? It's the 5 YO's first snow day, and he promptly hit the video games. You'd think that would be great--leave him to rot his brain for a little while and relax with some coffee, right? NO WAY. "Mama...how do I get out of this?...Mama, I need help....Mama...mama...mama..." AUGH!

But damn, I'm glad I got my freelance work done yesterday.

16. Two went out for about 1.5 minutes.
And pronounced to "Too Cold!" Heh.

I'm sorry you are an emotional wreck. I feel ya! I'm about ready to "disappear" into the snow.

I'd take a picture but it's all white out there. I can just barely see the edge of the woods. Juncos are at the thistle feeder though. :D

21. Driving was fine, but accelerating and decelerating were a l'il tricky.
Edited on Fri Dec-19-08 12:42 PM by DarkTirade
I didn't even want to brave the roads here in my town right now, so I just walked to the bank and back.

It was fine the way there. But on the way back the wind decided to pick up. In my face. I grew a nice collection of ice crystals on every part of me that was facing forwards. And it made it more than a bit difficult to see. I had to wear my sunglasses to be able to look forward, but they kept getting coated with little chunks of ice.

Unfortunately I have to go back to your side of town at least once today, because I gotta pick my grandpa up from dialysis. Maybe twice, 'cause I'm scheduled to work today. I gotta check and make sure there WILL be work tonight though. :P

27. Gah. Just spent ten minutes trapped in a parking lot.
As the plows went through on the road, they kept tossing more and more snow into the driveway where I was picking my grandpa up. And it's on a bit of an upslope. So we got stuck. Couldn't go. I watched as a 4 wheel drive truck took about 10 minutes just to gouge tire tracks deep enough to go. I couldn't even follow it up normally, I had to go back into the parking lot and get some forward momentum before I could even follow its tire tracks.

I'm s'posed to be at work in 10 minutes. Takes me 20 to get there on a good day. Something tells me I may be a wee bit late. :P

25. We just had FIVE snow days in a row.
Winter Break came a week early for my kids.

It's because it's Portland -- people freak at the slightest trace of snow.
