Inclusive, Kinder, Gentler People Check-in Here for your Safe Haven
Come on folks, there are jewels of human spirit and dicks of amazing proportion in every system of belief/non-belief known to man.

We don't have to relate to one another like mannerless gits. Let's treasure one another. Diversity isn't just a race or sexuality issue, it's an issue of creed as well.

We've much to learn in our lives and differing perspectives build a better base for educated thought.

Don't make me start singing that Coke song from the 60's.

Then pull its pants down to its knees
And chase it through the rough

Then tie it up with stocks and bonds
And check its purse for change
Then leave it out at Moosegrin Hall
With our cousin, who's deranged

(My home phone number, I can't remember. This kind of stuff, I remember... )

10. Unfotunately there are stresses and issues
That one cannot as easily address in an open forum. Anger and stress build up towards issues that are not easily spoken about in front of those that may take offense at the existance of this stress. Vents are needed for people to release this anger amongst those that can understand their problems. And when venting some are not always as self restrained they ought to be.

17. And yet,
the fact that we've all been hurt in life doesn't make it right or acceptable to attempt to hurt or hold responsible any other being who may loosely fit within the same broad category.

The fact that some folks lack self-restraint doesn't mean they shouldn't aim for it, or that we should set the bar for meaningful discourse and mannerly behaviour any lower on their account.

18. You shouldn't have to be restrained while venting
Edited on Tue Mar-02-04 11:41 AM by supernova
That's the point of venting, afterall. The trick is in finding an appropriate place to vent in the first place.

We all need support for our worldviews at times. There's no shame in that. The fallacy comes in looking for it in people and places you probably won't find it and then claiming hurt afterward.

Blasts at Shiite Ceremonies in Iraq Kill at Least 143
http://www.nytimes.com/2004/03/02/international/middleeast/02CND-IRAQ.html?hp

"One distraught man clawed through the piles until he found the small pink sandals of a child."

I can't fucking cope with this. All I can see in my head is the tiny little pink shoes my niece wore when she was little. Those pink sandals belonged to someone's little girl and the people running our country and a whole lot of the populace just don't care that she (and thousands more like her) are gone.

I want to scream and cry and shake someone until they can explain to me why this had to happen, why so many people have had to die.

Help. :grouphug:

I'm really sad right now but you know that later on it's gonna turn over into righteous wrath. Anger isn't always a bad thing...it's how we channel it that matters. Gotta use the energy from being PISSED OFF to change things. I have a very deep well of righteous anger to draw from built up over the last few years. Time to kick some ass.
