I'm waiting until the temperature rises to 0 degrees before
I go out to clear away the 8" of snow on the driveway. Right now, it's -10 F.

Here in Saint Paul, though, we have it better than in a lot of places around the upper midwest. Iowa got slammed. South Dakota got slammed. Detroit and Chicago got slammed.

I have a good snowblower that always starts, and it'll only take me about an hour to clear my driveway and my neighbor's, which we share, along with the main sidewalk in front of three houses, so it's not that terrible.

Probably about 9AM, it will hit 0 degrees.

I hope everyone in snowbound areas will take it easy today and not over-exert in this weather. Take your time and it'll all get done.

On a lighter note, it's our 17th anniversary today and, if the snowplows do their job, my wife and I and her mother will be heading to a very nice restaurant this evening for dinner.

1. Happy Anniversary!
I do not envy the temperatures you got up there (it's 30 degrees here), but I *do* envy all the snow you got. All we're getting is ice. x(

Be careful!!!! :)

2. Across the river in Minneapolis the wind chill is still -27.
I need to shovel my front sidewalk, but I, too, am not going outside until it "warms up" a little more. x(

Happy Anniversary. I hope you can get out. I am going to a party, too, but it's across the street. I think I can manage that.

3. Wind chill....ish da!
Yeah, it's going to be cold out there. I'm going to do the work in several stages, coming back in to warm up between. About the only exposed skin will be a bit of my face, and I'll try to work with my back to the wind most of the time.

The thing that ticks me off a bit is that they kept saying it would continue to snow overnight. I thought about doing my cleanup about 3 yesterday afternoon, when it was still about 12 degrees, but decided to wait so I wouldn't have to do it all again.

Of course, the snow stopped right at dark. Phooey!

But, never mind...it could be worse, ya know...

4. Good Lord! Temp here is a
minus 7 (was minus 6 when I woke up) and the chill factor is minus 34. Yes, I was stupid and cleared my walk. Don't know why. I doubt anyone is going to visit on a day like today, and I'm just staying put.

5. All done! Driveway is done. Sidewalks are done!
And I'm not even that cold. I discovered something. Even at 0 degrees, like it is right now, if I go out and work for 15 minutes, then come back in and warm up, the second time I go out, I don't get so cold. I just spend an hour outside, and nothing is cold. Nothing hurts. Fascinating.

So, that's it for me and snow removal for the day. Woot!

6. And here I was feeling all bad...
...because it was less that 50 degrees outside when I got up this morning.

Happy Anniversary!

8. More good news!
They plowed our street already, and I blew the mound at the end of the driveway off. Cars are back, parked where they belong, and things look just fine. Temperature is up to 7 degrees ABOVE ZERO, so it's back to t-shirt weather.
