Does anyone sell their plasma?
I heard a radio ad about donating plasma for extra cash. How does it work and is it worth it? I could use some extra cash.

1. You go in
they take it out. they give you money and a cookie. you go away.

Never done it, but only because when I went in it was going to be a 4 hour wait, and I got hired full time the day before I was going to go back.

2. My wife did for a time.
Was worth an extra $50 to $80 a week, depending on how often she donated. From the sounds of things the place wasn't that friendly but when you need the money I guess you cope up with things like that.

I can't give blood products in the UK or the US... I can't in the US because of the amount of time I lived in the UK through the BSE episode (well all of it actually), and I can't donate in the UK because I've been in the US too long (something about the hormones given in beef apparently). So no plasma donations from me. However if it were life or death and someone needed it and all necessary things were in place for me to donate, then yes I would.

Mark.

3. I used to all the time, about 10 years ago
The process is no worse than giving whole blood. It's usually a big student/junkie/drunk/homeless fest and the staff has the appropriate attitude for dealing with them.

MrsCoffee had a hematoma once and never went back. I never had a problem with it, and have fantastic track marks on my arm to show as battle scars.
