My 4-year-old nephew just called me from the US: "Santa's bringing me an exit sign!
I just know it!"

He has a little signage fixation, which I think is just fine.

1. My dear Heidi!
Well, I hope Santa IS bringing him an exit sign!

They are so cute at that age...the kids, not the signs!

(His parents are really lucky that he's asking for something so inexpensive! :D)

10. I fear the exit sign was not so inexpensive,
but my parents (his granny and PaPa) are giving him the exit sign, so his parents are indeed lucky.

7. That's so cute!
Your nephew's exit sign, mcctatas' kid's insulation. I love it!

It reminds me of a story my sister-in-law told me about my nephew, who's five.

He was playing some computer game online when she looked over his shoulder. She said, "Honey, there are rats following you everywhere!"

"It's OK, Mom. I summoned them."

Okay, here is my best attempt at a translation: Your farts in Locarno will ferment if you are the Pope.

Kind of a friendly, cautionary admonition. I think.

little ones seem to love signs - my son did at that age. They love their iconic nature, I think!

Frohliche Weinachten to you and CMW! :hi:

We just had out Christmas Eve family dinner, and one of my husband's buddies, who is from Germany joined us. We had a lot of fun talking about German holiday traditions vs the US, and then we did some Brit Christmas crackers. It was fun!

35. Signs are how my little nephew started learning to read.
He's fascinated by big rigs and truck drivers, so my mom (a retired first-grade teacher) informed him early on that truck drivers are _excellent_ readers, and commenced teaching him to "sound out" the words he saw on signs. :D

Merry Christmas, gf!

37. That's really cute.
And interesting that he learned language with signs.

Maybe he could learn a second language, or several, if he had a book or other collection of signs in, say, French, German, or Italian?

That is a hint for his Aunt Heidi!

Happy Holidays to you and yours, Heidi!
