Looking at the world through green colored glasses
Something very good is happening to me, but it is hard to explain. I will try to do it here. I associate it with the color green. And it's not the conservationy, ecologically sound kind of green, although if everyone shared this state of mind we wouldn't have any environmental problems. And it's not a drug induced kind of green, although I think you might be able to understand what I'm talking easier if you've tried marijuana or mushrooms.

I remember feeling this way for the first time a very long time ago, and I haven't really felt it as strongly since then until now, although there have been hints of it here and there. That first time I felt this way strongly was when I was 17 and engaging in some heavy petting for the first time. It's an esoteric feeling of arousal, intoxication, growth, health, and happiness. And it's all located inside of your brain; you do not need a drug to access it. You don't have to be having sex to access it, either. I think you just need to know what it feels like and recognize it. Then, I'm hoping, all you need to do is cultivate it.

But it has occurred to me that maybe this is just me and nobody will really know what I'm talking about. My therapist certainly doesn't, but I think the fact that I'm in therapy has helped me to remember this state of mind. And it's not something that I experience all of the time. I find it's hard to access it at work, and when I do experience it the feeling is fleeting. I just can't grab a hold of it good. It's not something that is constant or consistent yet, but I'm hoping that I'll get there.

2. My dear Droopy...
I strongly suspect that this is not unique to you. I've felt this sort of strength and joy from time to time as well...

It is an amazing feeling! I also suspect that you're getting this feeling now because you are in therapy, and because your life is happier than it's been for a long time.

As you continue to learn about yourself, you most likely will be able to reach this feeling more easily...

Let's hope so!

3. Thanks for jumping in here, Peggy
I suspect that you might be right. And I want everyone here to understand that I do don't a whole lot of mind altering stuff now days. I might have a drink or two every once in while, but I don't get drunk or do anything else at all. I just think it's possible for your brain to feel like it's spring after a long, cold winter all the time.

5. Well if you want to know what I think, and I know you didn't ask ..
I think it's HOPE. I'm not talking political hope, change etc. I'm talking hope for your future. Your personal future. I think you're seeing things going your way. Perhaps in a (possible) relationship/friendship. Hope nonetheless.

maybe?

8. I'm sure that has something to do with it
It probably helps that I have a decent job and supportive friends and family to go along with mental stability for a long time.

The feeling just seems magical to me. Like there is something mystical and possibly other-worldly about it.

4. I can't think of the word...
...but I've heard about how some people associate musical notes with colors. I'm sure it'll come to me sooner or later.

Maybe this "green" that you're talking about is related to that?

6. Maybe so
Except I've associated an emotion with a color, but it's probably the same kind of thing.

16. Synesthesia?
I have a touch of it -- the key of D minor is dark blue, for example, and E flat is kind of gold.

9. Sounds like synesthesia...
Interesting...

A friend of mine had a student who said she was her favorite teacher because her name tasted like chocolate.

12. Green
Green is the color of the heart chakra and therefore the color of love. (Forget the whole red/valentine thing--that's crap--although the heart chakra can also be represented by the color pink.) When your energy center at your heart is open and "spinning" (the wheel-like energy is active), you feel an abundance of love for every living thing, not to mention unbounded optimism. Perhaps that's what you're feeling?

13. That sounds like it
I've heard of the chakra's before, but I haven't really investigated them. It does seem to fit, however, and these strong feelings of optimism and compassion have started as I've learned to...well, not really love yet.....but as I have been learning to be okay with myself, strangely enough.

I hadn't thought of this from an eastern philosophy kind of angle. Thanks for bringing it up.

18. it's where you feel "one with the Universe"

Here's a definition: Oceanic experience: The experience, usually brief and completely unexpected, of being at one with the entire universe, and of feeling a deep meaning and purpose to every part of existence. It is often accompanied by feelings of compassion and love for all beings.

It can also be called "peak experience" : Peak experiences are described by Maslow as especially joyous and exciting moments in life, involving sudden feelings of intense happiness and well-being, wonder and awe, and possibly also involving an awareness of transcendental unity or knowledge of higher truth (as though perceiving the world from an altered, and often vastly profound and awe-inspiring perspective). They usually come on suddenly and are often inspired by deep meditation, intense feelings of love, exposure to great art or music, or the overwhelming beauty of nature.
