Did anyone go shopping today?
I couldn't get motivated or enticed to go, even though the Borders coupoon was inviting. But I don't need anything, certainly no more Christmas decorations or clothes. Bah Boxing Day Humbug.

2. You've got to be kidding?
I open the door and the first thing I see is more snow falling (in W Washington). I closed the door and stayed inside.

3. My auntie said it's really messy in Seattle.
She lives on a hill and is basically housebound. I certainly don't want a dear 88 year old lady out trudging up or down a hill in that mess.

4. Just my weekly
Edited on Fri Dec-26-08 08:46 PM by hippywife
grocery shopping and it was a breeze. I did drive by the local Kohl's and the parking lot was packed. I really needed to go in and exchange some khaki's I bought for my other half's work attire requirement but I wasn't going anywhere near any stores like that. He did tell me saw a line outside of Toys R Us on his way into work this morning.

I'm so glad we totally ignore the insanity called Christmas.

:hi:

5. I had to go to WalMart
I know. Believe me, I know, but it's the only place in town that carries what I needed. Thank the gods, I was just buying something: the line at the return desk must have been over two dozen people long. I didn't see huge crowds of people buying stuff anywhere.

6. I did since I like to get some X-mas stuff half off - decorations and such
(candles, in particular) - I also needed some gifts for the other side of the family we didn't see on Christmas. Boy, some places were really crowded.

7. Yup. Resisted the urge to touch lots of things
* Monitor I don't need and can live without for now (it can wait until June)
* Blu-ray
* conure parrot

* I did cave and get a large playgym, but karma socked it to me: the unit was defective, the nitwits who made it were 1mm off in designing the latches and the thing wouldn't assemble. And that was just step 1... so I returned it post haste.

* I did get some DVD sets, just to get a store card used up in case they opt to play the bankruptcy game and render unused cash cards nullified. (the b-word likely won't happen, but still)

Still, I got out and people-watched.

8. Yup!
My vegankid got nonvegan gloves from a relative. We went and exchanged them, wanted to get that done before she leaves town.

The cashier was unintentionally very funny - I don't think she'd ever heard of the word vegan. Probably didn't help that I was wearing a leather jacket while explaining. :D

10. An art museum gift store
and I found 4 books reduced to $3 each. Then I stopped at the nearby Spanish Village Art Center (San Diego) and bought 2 handmade greeting cards, also for $3 each. Stayed far away from the big malls.

9. Yes. The mall was packed!
It looked like retailers wish it would have looked before Christmas.

I just got a couple of rolls of gift wrap and some odds and ends like ribbon, tags, etc. Then I came home to finish wrapping gifts for the extended family who are coming tomorrow for Christmas, part deux.

11. Does going to Wendy's count as shopping?
In which case, guilty as charged.

Though in my mind I did something worse on Christmas Day... stopped off at a gas station to buy some drinks - my son was "desperately thirsty" and couldn't wait the 20 minutes it took for me to get home. That was very busy too.

12. I went shopping today!
My 13 year old washer and dryer pooped out this week.
The new ones are energy efficient at least and they look all futuristic. very space odyssey-ish.

still, not money i'd planned on spending.

14. I didn't dare try driving today.
I'm probably an idiot for planning to go tomorrow, too, but I should be fine. Cue up some relaxing music on the mp3 player, loosen the grip on the steering wheel a little bit, and just go with it...

15. We had to - we were out of Diet Coke and cat food
We might have survived without the carbonated carcinogens, but we would not have survived a picket line by the hordes. :P

That's about all the enthusiasm I could muster.

Though I did by a coat online last night. :)

18. Perish the thought!
Christmas is over, I've more than had it with shopping! Dislike it even under the best of circumstances.

Today was a day to be as lazy as possible.

In a couple of weeks, when things die down,I do want to get some boots and a couple of new things to wear using my Christmas moola.
