Ok, so I know their tails come off. And for good reason, but I did not know that the tail continues to wag for a long time after it comes off! Freaked me out. I caught him, but he escaped because I grabbed him by the tail which came off. Off he went and his tail sat on my floor wagging and moving all over the place. And for a very long time! FREAKY!

Anyway, found him and his little stub and set him free.

3. It was a baby salamander. It has been cold which is why he came in I guess.
But of course Mississippi weather is funky as hell, and it is in the 70's now. I try to free them when they come in because they will starve in my house. Not too many bugs in the house thankfully.

I saw a baby one dangling from a spider web not too long ago. Not sure if he could've been lunch for the spider or not, but I freed him. I hate to mess with nature, but I just couldn't let the little booger hang there.

4. Those suckers bleed big time
Edited on Sat Dec-27-08 12:21 AM by rainbow4321
I had come into my house and saw a pretty good size puddle of fresh blood in the foyer. Having 3 dogs my first reaction was to check their mouths, paws, and butts for active bleeding.
Then I saw something out of the corner of my eye. It was a decapitated geiko. Apparently there had been a dog vs baby lizard match just prior to me entering the house, and, well, the lizard lost. Bleh.

And their nervous system is based in their frigging tail..which is why it keeps wagging even though it's been chopped off (least that is what my kids told me when I relayed to them my "tail kept moving" story after finding another dog vs lizard victim in the house).
