From the "It seemed like a good idea at the time" files:

I decided to visit my folks for the holidays, since everyone else would be there. It went mostly okay. But of course I get the cold from hell ON CHRISTMAS. At first my throat was just kind of scratchy but at some point on the first leg of the flight yesterday, I realize I am getting pretty hoarse and I sure am sneezing a lot. But the time the first flight landed I was miserable. Then the flight from Chicago to Houston was delayed a couple of hours.

Now, both my boyfriend and I had decided to fly out of Houston because it is much cheaper than Corpus. And so (though we went to different destinations) our flights left and arrived at about the same time. So late yesterday we got in and then drove back to Corpus in the middle of the night. Now maybe that wasn't such a wise thing to do but he was driving so I didn't really care (except to say that the radio stations in Houston SUCK- with the exception being public radio. We should have brought my satellite radio). Anyway, you have no idea how hard it is to find an open convenience store between Houston and Victoria on Christmas night (well at this point it is actually today, the 26th) so I could use the bathroom. Why is it that there are about a million Whataburgers around when you don't need one, but never any around when you do?

I should really go to bed; it's been a long couple of day. But nothing really helps my symptoms much and it is miserable to lie there and not be able to breathe.
